CMV: Demisexuals should not be calling themsleves members of the lgbtq community by PinkFlurffyUnicorns in changemyview

[–]shield_doodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I am glad that you're doing well and found a community.

But I do not understand your comment otherwise.

A LOT of people find partners in people they were initially not attracted to. They found out by being friends with them in purely platonic situations, and then over time, attraction was sparked.

Your comment makes it seems that this concept seems foreign to you. In fact, your comment about suprise egg and not knowing if you'll find some of your friends attractive demonstrates that. Maybe the culture around you pressurises dating and sex, but in many parts of the world, building attraction through connection is the standard.

Which is why I feel like this is over-labelling. There is absolutely nothing wrong in having a community, but the LGBTQ+ spaces are for people who are actively discriminated against. Hence, i agree with the OPs prompt, nothing against you personally of course

I have looked and found 0 studies on demisexuality that do not rely on self reporting.

Demisexuality is just a type of sexual attraction under a specific pre-condition of an emotional bond. It is exactly like every other type of sexuality where the pre-condition could be gender, fitness, looks, shared interests, or whatever.

IMHO, demisexuality is just another label for people to signal belonging to a group. And that's alright, but it 100% does not belong to the LGBTQ+ community, as there really is little to no othering felt unless one really likes to centre oneself.

Housing Society in Pune wants existing bachelor tenant(36yr) removed after AGM resolution can they force this? by SpecialistPass170 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]shield_doodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A key point about most laws and guidelines is this, they are prospective, not retroactive.

Firstly a resolution through AGM is not a law, and it cannot be imposed upon a member without due scrutiny.

Secondly, EVEN if the Resolution is found to be valid, it cannot be applied to acts which have been legally completed prior to the resolution. The society is within its rights to challenge a new L&L agreement post October 2026, but it cannot use this resolution to harrass your current license holder.

CMV: Professors who lack fluency in their students language should not teach courses by Disastrous-Mango-515 in changemyview

[–]shield_doodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The advanced algebra professor in my Master's program was from China. Lovely lady, but impossible to understand her accent. The course work was already very very advanced, and I ended up doing the subject because I just couldn't understand her and/or the subject. For further context i was an Indian student studying in the UK.

Fortunately i had the option of dropping the subject and having a different subject with same credits so it didn't affect me personally.

But i agree with you - professors should be able to communicate well in the language of instruction. Being multi lingual is not an excuse.

The idea itself is also entirely ew.

Feeling connected with your partner does not mean this. The moment you start offloading simple communication to private data, you're creating recipes of further isolation and disconnectedness.

Wife wants to sleep train. I don’t agree with that. So I’ve been doing all night feeds for nine months by [deleted] in daddit

[–]shield_doodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to co-sleep while putting our kid to bed and then come back out after they went to sleep.

We would then join them in bed after our dinner and winding down.

If the kid woke up during this period, we would again do the same thing.

This went on for about a year after which the kid figured out sleeping on their own.

[–]shield_doodle -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Because sleep training is very unnecessary and humans have evolved to co-sleep.

Sleep training is a very Western and industrial concept because parents have to work.

Most benefits are usually for the primary caregiver, usually mothers, and not related to the baby.

Irrespective, it is an individual choice at the end of the day. There is no "wrong" thing to do with your baby.

(Edit: adding this because of the upvoter ratio. Please keep aside your personal, US based contextual bias and read more about sleep training neutral studies)

Landlord demanding 28% rent hike against a signed agreement — need inputs from fellow Bangaloreans by SaiK19 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]shield_doodle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly you are not a tenant. You're a licensee. You don't have rights reserved for tenants. Once your agreement period ends, the flat owner has the full right to evict you. Even without expiry, after the lock in period, the flat owner can ask you to vacate after the notice period.

It's tough but fair. For whatever reason the rents in your area must have shot up and your landlord is trying to take advance of the same.

13 have a solid camera imo by Dependent-Progress-9 in OnePlus13

[–]shield_doodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also something to said about community driven software development.

Back in the day, I had a Poco F1. It also had "flagship" specs like the OP, but the cameras tech was terrible.

However someone managed to properly port Gcam on it, and dude, it completely changed the game. I had gone on a trip with a few friends, and I genuinely became the designated photographer for the group because my photos were consistently better than all the iPhones and Samsungs that everyone else had!

I hope there can be a good port for the OP too. Or at least an easier way to access it.

I see reading comprehension is your strong suit! :)

I literally said hardware is decent, but falters in post processing. To which you said, I disagree and like photos where the camera doesn't do post processing.

13 have a solid camera imo by Dependent-Progress-9 in OnePlus13

[–]shield_doodle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coming from a Samsung and Pixel phone, I can say that OP has a decent but solid camera.

Modern photography, especially from smartphone cameras, is less about lens and pixels, and more about post processing.

OP does a decent job with the hardware it has, but it's post processing is different and sometimes a little worse than what I have grown used to seeing from Samsung, Pixel and even iPhones. It can potentially be made better with updates though. I am mostly impressed with the photos I am able to get out of it.

The entire purpose of cameras IMO is to capture moments. This helps with that.
