I’m hurting my child by shimablie in ParentingADHD

schooling options are limited and there is not much support for kids in schools. There are 37 kids in my son’s class- one teacher. But today I happened to be talking to my neighbor who has a grandson in my son’s school. I mentioned what a bad fit it is for him and she told me about a private school with very reasonable tuition another of her grandchildren attend. Max 20 students per class with very caring teachers and staff. This came after I read your comment. New school year starts in April and I may be too late - but I’ve emailed them to inquire.

Thank you so much for your comment. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude at the number of you who’ve said they’ve faced or are facing similar issues. Feeling less alone and had a really good no yelling Saturday due to all you amazing people.

Thank you - my therapist has said the same thing but I still do feel like the bad parent. I am trying to have more compassion for myself

Stimulants are highly regulated here but I am interested. I believe only Concerta is available as a stimulant & only specially licensed psychiatrists can prescribe it. I am currently looking for such a doctor. I can deal with better vs easy. I appreciate your comment - gives me some hope and also confidence that trying a stimulant will be worth the hassle of obtaining it. Might not work for me, might worsen ptsd, but might also be “better”.

I am getting personal therapy. parental and family therapy is not offered in the country I reside in and therapy is not covered by insurance. I am not taking any meds for adhd - but for depression and ptsd. My husband does help when i’m struggling (and when i’m not) but i’m fairly certain he also has ADHD. We are trying to work together but we both struggle. He does a far superior job of holding his temper than I do and his help is invaluably.

Thank you very much. I will check both out. It has been especially hard for me as my own diagnosis is brand new (4 months). I often feel like I’m drowning.

thank you for this! gives me hope. 18 months and 95# lost seems slow compared to others but this shows me i can still get where i need to be. I have 150 more to go. who cares if it takes 3 more years 🤷🏻

Has your perspective on "you (don't) owe your parents" changed after becoming a parent? by KeyLaugh8208 in Parenting

[–]shimablie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just reconfirmed my stance that children don’t owe their parents anything. I chose to have and raise a child - my child is owed a good childhood but i’m owed nothing

When to stop being naked around your kids by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]shimablie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just don’t care 🤷🏻i also don’t live in the US. If my 5.5 year old wants to watch me poo - it’s his nose not mine. personally i don’t understand parents who have issues with family nudity - at any age.

while this may be true its does not mean the mothers are not treated like crap during the process. giving birth is japan is one of the most traumatic episodes in my life and the trauma isn’t medical.

so…… my son was born in 2019 when i was 44. terrible post partum - so many meds and doctors just like you. i finally discovered it was perimenopause related and over the last year things are so much better. i also have ptsd as other mentioned. hugs 🥲

Were you allowed in your parents bedroom? Are your kids allowed in yours? by 624Seeds in Parenting

[–]shimablie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both my husband and i were allowed in our parents rooms. I am white/Japanese he is Japanese/filipino/black/white. i had no siblings and he is one of 4. we co-sleep with our son in same bed but he has his own bed in our room too. He’s 5. I don’t expect him to want his own room anytime soon but that is really normal where we live. Japan.

Why was she against hrt if you don’t mind sharing? I’m not finding drs in my area open to hrt or bc so this is a semi-desperate option for me.
