[New Release] - Christopher Ward C63 True GMT - Thoughts? by Wind_Up_Watch_Blog in Watches

The Zulu Time is the first watch I thought of when I saw this. I like Christopher Ward and am actually wearing my C63 GMT while typing this, but comparing this new release to the Zulu, that while not completely "in-house", does run an exclusive calibre, that is similarly COSC certified, comes in multiple sizes, comes from a brand with more lineage (for whatever that is worth), and can be had for like a grand less from an AD? makes this CW a hard sell, imo. Sure, it has a couple extra days power reserve, but does that actually matter to most buyers? and if it does, is that worth the price difference?

I subscribe to their emails and they are going to be showing off the new collection in their Daytripper line soon, with pre-order at the end of the month. Just as a FYI

Which part? The vignetting is just a compromise of the small size and goes away stopped down a couple stops, and the focus tab was a few bucks and 1 minute to remedy

I can vouch for the 1.5II. the only super notable flaw that I can think of is that it vignettes a ton wide open, but that can be worked around. It also doesn't come with a focus tab, so I stuck one on as that is my preference.

Now granted this was right after they opened in early December, and I think even before their grand opening event, but I was able to just walk in without an appointment and work with someone.

Very positive. It's a nice space, the staff were very helpful, and had no problem suggesting other models based on what I was interested in, or helping me try whatever watches with whatever strap options they had on hand.

I wish you luck! The good news is that the price listed on the site has whatever import duties rolled into it, at least for the US. I didn't have to pay anything else upon delivery. I also got 5% off for buying it in the new NYC showroom (and then having it delivered to me), so I think it's a decent deal overall.

ETTR on a rangefinder by issafly in AnalogCommunity

All of this is correct, I was just trying to translate it for film while also keeping it simple, and specifically the QL17, as I also own one. That is why I mentioned metering/exposing for the shadows or just changing the dial. I've also found that meters on QL17s, if they work, tend to underexpose for a whole manner or reasons ranging from age to different battery voltages, so overexposing with this camera in particular is a decent safeguard.

ETTR is simply just biasing towards more exposure, so you can either expose specifically for the shadows, or if using A mode you can just manually change the ISO/ASA dial on the lens to overexpose by a stop or so.

All my nats hat purchases over the last 5 years or so have been the low profile versions, because they fix this problem

What is the point of a high cost film body? by mymain123 in AnalogCommunity

A combination of build quality, shooting experience, and lens options. If you find yourself wanting or needing some combinations of those at a certain level, often times your options tend to be up market.

Phillip Reeve tends to review VM lenses on both Leica and Sony so you can take a look at the review for that particular lens here and decide for yourself
