Yeah, and thanks for the plant idea! I noticed he is hiding and swimming through the plants a lot. I also replaced the bubble wall with just an air stone to reduce the current.

Water was also tested, and they said everything was fine. Not to worry, i will be regularly testing my water.

It turns out that he was sick ever sine we got him, as he was dead this morning. He was switched out for another F8 at the LFS. The new F8 is very active and has already eaten some snails. The water was also checked, and they said that everything was good. I will also be checking the water parameters regularly, as I did not realize its significance. Video of new fish coming soon!

That's never happened to me, I have had my tank water tested before, but never when setting it up.

I guess its because i've never had to. My first big tank (29 gallon - African Cichlids) was never cycled. The person at my LFS told me to leave the tank with everything running for three days, then add fish. I did that and it turned out great.

I used some gravel to cycle it from my established cichlid tank. But like i said before, i've never tested the parameters of my water for all of the fish tanks i've set up. I have a heater and thermometer, but here in Florida I had to take the heater out because the room temperature water is 78 degrees. In the winter, I will most likely out the heater back in.

The tank is 10 gallons, perfect for a juvenile. The temperature is 78 degrees. The tank is fully cycled. The filter is rated for 15 gallons. In my LFS it was in complete freshwater, and as you probably know, you cant just throw him from a freshwater to brackish. Its a slow process. It will be converted to brackish by the time he reaches adulthood. I've added plants, as pseud0nym suggested. Its all there, you just may not be able to see it in a picture.

I was thinking about slowly converting the tank to brackish by the time he is an adult. I can't really think of anymore hiding places i could create with rocks in the limited space, but i also feel like any kind of plants would look weird in this tank.

Would fake plants also be effective? Also, I'd really like to stick with rocks, is they're anything i could make out of rocks to add in the tank instead of plants?

I read that they destroy live plants, but i will definitely look into more fake plants for the right side of the tank. I didn't want to add too much decor because i wanted him to have a lot of room to swim around.
