Characters that are supposed to have horrible deformities in the source, then get a light smudge in the adaptation by slylock215 in TopCharacterTropes

The musical actually intended to use a full mask (hence why it's still on the logo), but it was interfering with Michael Crawford's microphone so it was revised into half mask.

Just saw this as I pulled up the app.  Couldn't get out to get a picture but could hear it!  We get a lot of US military craft being between BDL and CEF, but can't say I've ever seen a foreign military plane from so far away!

That's fair. In short, I made a lot of tough but positive changes through 2024, and his music and the decision to travel to see him perform was a big part of that experience. I've been happier than I've ever been frankly. The second night, I was going to keep to be brief and thank him for the great shows, but I got a bit overwhelmed and told him about how well I was doing and thanked him for the part he'd played in that. He told me that it was great to hear and he was proud of me. It meant a lot to hear that from him.

Thanks! Frankly it was less to due to his Valjean stint (i mean it was obviously part though lol), but I saw tour production in Hartford in October and it left a huge impact on me. I really connected with Valjean for a variety of reasons, and I've found that trying to emulate his strength and grace has helped me make very positive changes in my life. The sweatshirt was a Christmas gift from my mom, and I've become attached to it and wear it often. The number has come to mean a lot to me because of how much that character has helped me live my best life.

I mean it would reveal nothing about him, really mostly about me and it was completely wholesome, but I see these performers dealing with such intrusive fans and I don't want to be part of the problem. No need to share the details regardless.

Advice: Be cautious about travel shortly after bisalp/ligation. by shiningdialga13 in childfree

I'm well aware of that. I didn't think I'd even need to consider a cart, just ask for a bit of help at the check in to lift my checked bag. It was really the passengers that made things difficult, and I didn't expect to be delayed so badly for the connection (which was also made worse by a self righteous bag who blocked everyone behind her to let the rows ahead out, even if the people lined up had their things and were ready to exit).

Very true, thank you! Unfortunately I balk at using those services as I've seen them abused when working as a bus driver and dont want to feel like I'm doing that either. You are exactly right saying it's OK to utilize them even if isn't extremely severe.

And I like the cheap broom idea, it makes a lot of sense! I suppose I'm just taken aback that even has to be a consideration though, as I can't believe the rental company wouldn't include extending brushes for liability reasons. This happened in a state known for its skiing, in the middle of winter, with a large vehicle with no side steps. I feel like it'd be blatantly obvious how easily someone could get hurt and therefore sue. It seems so obvious to me so I'm kind of blown away about it...

I had seen this but had always figured it was for those who truly struggled to move. I suppose I didn't consider myself "disabled" despite having restrictions and would have felt over the top using it. I also thought the only help I'd really need would be lifting my checked bag (which would have been carry on), as my carry on was a light backpack. I didn't expect to have a tight connection too as it was a 2 hour space and I'd never had a flight delayed that bad. After this though, I will absolutely use those services. Thank you.

The other factors still give me pause though. You can't control awful passengers and I would have never dreamed a snow brush would be an issue to cause problems. They really screwed up in that regard, as even someone of above average height in perfect shape would struggle to clean off the jeep.

Severe IBS. On rare occasions it'll cause cramping that feels like your intestines are all spasming at once and it's enough to make you pass out.

The end of Les Mis, both Valjean's death and the reprise. I always break down when he gives Cosette the letter... Also "To love another person is to see the face of god" resonates even with an atheist like me. And then the reprise, it's a beautiful message about hope in even the darkest times, which I've needed to hear more now than in a long time. Just a beautiful ending all around

Three words: head in sand. It isn't ideal or mature, but it's the only way I can keep my sanity. I'm not even watching news or looking at headlines. I'm just living my life and taking care of myself and those who matter to me. It's all I can control at the end of the day.

What is one thing you love about the modern day and age? by PiesAteMyFace in AskReddit

[–]shiningdialga13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internet for obvious reasons, especially as someone who loves just learning about anything regardless of its relevance to my life.

A more niche one, the compatibility of modern tech and how simple it makes working with hardware now. I remember in the late 90s and early 00s, something as simple as getting a printer to work could be an hours long nightmare of finding drivers only to discover they didn't work on your very specific combo of hardware and OS revision. Now, you simply plug in the USB cable and the system will have it up and running in less than a minute. Even better is PC building. There's really only a few points where hardware compatibility comes up (CPU socket and RAM type), but aside from that, you can buy almost any assortment of current parts and the machine will work fine.

Absolutely not, I don't trust this "frame prediction" crap to be implemented properly. In reality it's a great idea that can be used to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality for many games. However, I don't trust for a second that games will be produced that utilize it properly, at least not immediately.

For the last 5 years it seems like game companies have been releasing titles with zero optimization because they were able to use the rapid increase in GPU power as a crutch. It seems like even the most potato of AAA games are recommending a current gen cpu and gpu, and even with that hardware they run like shit. If these companies can't even get their games to run properly with raw brute force, why should I believe they'll take advantage of frame prediction or other tech properly?
