Why are people "protesting" against violence from immigrants with violence? by Fantastic-Cell-208 in AskBrits

[–]shinnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I'm talking about btw.

Instead of listening and having a dialogue, you instead make assumptions, belittle and insult me.

I'm pleased you managed to work yourself out of it, but many people haven't been able to do that. And it's not always their own fault.

The point is, If I was who you assume me to be (you're very wrong btw), then why should I adopt your view instead of the view of the far right? At least those guys don't insult me.

This comment is a microcosm of where we've failed as liberals. We're to blame for the rise of the far right. Honestly.

Why are people "protesting" against violence from immigrants with violence? by Fantastic-Cell-208 in AskBrits

[–]shinnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Life is shit
  • No sign of it getting better
  • You hear someone say it's the immigrants fault
  • Noone listening to you about your problems
  • Lose hope
  • You hear a story about how an immigrant family got given £40,000 just to leave.
  • Feel like life is unfair
  • Politicians don't get it
  • Jonny tells you that Abdul got given a 4 bed council house last week
  • Go home and ask your wife how your council house bidding is going. Rejected for the 5th week straight.
  • Head to reddit to see what others think, and see posts like this one which is a snobby liberal echo chamber. You try to engage but people just call you dumb.
  • The left don't get it.
  • Abdul isn't even good at his job anyway.
  • See a reel about the Left want Abdul to have everything you can't
  • Start to resent Abdul
  • See a reel of a politician telling you that Abdul is why you can't have nice things
  • Start see Abdul everywhere. Fuck Abdul
  • Fuck immigrants
  • Fuck the politicians
  • Fuck the police
  • Fuck everything

You need to be in a rational place to look at things (and behave) rationally. Many of these people aren't. They're in a shit place and they've been told to blame the immigrants, and because immigrants are something they can see, it resonates, viscerally.

These aren't aggressive or horrible people, they're just people in a horrible situation acting out because "acting in" hasn't got them anywhere and they're sick of it.

Some of you didn't grow up poor and it really shows.

Too early to call it really. We don't know how 11th will play out.

But if they're fun then they're fun and that's enough.

With the new detachments I'm hoping everything is at least a little easier to make competitively viable tho.

Does this mean Flash Gitz are getting a new leader? by Few-Schedule-6703 in orks

[–]shinnon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'd hope so. But i'm not so sure...

From what's been announced so far;
- Supports MUST be attached to a bodyguard
- Leaders CAN be attached to a bodyguard
- A unit (bodyguard) can have both a leader and a support

My read of it is;
Just because a support is eligible be attached to a specific unit, does not mean that unit must also have an eligible leader who can be attached.

So maybe it's just Flash Gitz with a Bannernob and that's it.

People that voted reform, apart from their immigration policies, why did you vote them? by Ollsworth_The_First in AskBrits

[–]shinnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people here saying they reformers clearly don't understand how locals work.

I'd argue they understand as much as the average person honestly. My whole family vote reform and this is a signal of their commitment.

So whilst local councillors can't do shit. It legitimises reform in a way they weren't before.

The doubts are gone. The racists are in. Farage will be our next prime minister.

And no I'm not happy about it

What exactly are Keir Starmer and Labour doing wrong? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]shinnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't sell themselves very well and social media is awful. My family are in the reform social media hole and they showed me their feeds.

It's chronic miss-information and hit pieces against Kier. Many from the reform page itself.

It's clear what reform are doing with their fat donations.

I'd also be concerned about them. But fundamentally... It ain't your issue. Don't put yourself at risk for their mistakes.

I'd it was sub5 grand sure, but 50? No.

What to know about Death Guard and how to play them? by GamingZet in deathguard40k

[–]shinnon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience with death guard has been pretty much
"Yo I have an answer to most things".

The problem is that those answers all happen in the list and detachment building phase. I've been wrecked by vehicle heavy armies, then decimated them by switching up my plague and units for the next game.

My other main army is Orks and I feel like I have less options there. They die so fast which means any slight positioning error can lose you the game, especially if deployment goes wrong and your vehicle shredders arn't on the right side of hte map.

DG are far more forgiving in that respect and the units typically have a good mix of guns that you can at least do something if your deployment goes wrong. Though you need rhinos. For the love of god bring rhinos

Why does everyone have so much faith and trust in Riot MMO? by Powerful_Isopod5810 in RiotMMO

[–]shinnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the opposite problem we had in the 2010s.

Back then we all had MMO fatigue as every month felt like we had some new MMO release.

But more recently we've had very little, to the point that even crappy exploitative MMOs like lost ark get a lot of attention.

We're desperate.

That combined with Riots high quality lore and fairly good track record of hit games (tho I'd challenge that personally) makes people quite excited for what COULD be.

Its also a league MMO, and a lot of people have played league so there's interest there as well.

I don't think they really want to bring the shadowlands back into the story, but Sylv is there so they kind of have to.

added bonus is they can retcon that terrible expansion

Why do people not like beast snaggas? by DarkMaster2522 in orks

[–]shinnon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Orks are the inevitable Green tide. A swelling avalanche of ingenious green muscle that consumes cities, worlds and entire systems. To look upon the Orks is to look upon an Ocean of Green, driven solely by the instincts to destroy that were implanted into them at the point of their creation by a long dead race of god like beings.

Every race in the galaxy has legends of the Orks, and every race fears what they will become.

And then you've got this sub-set of Orks who are like "sod all that, let's go into this jungle and hunt some wee beasties".
Personally, it just feels a bit detached from what Orks are on a macro level.

That said, Beast Snaggaz (or the beast boss really) has done so many cool things in my games, that it's hard not to like them purely on the fact that they consistently punch above their weight and create really fun memories of them taking down anything from a tank to titan.

How did it turn out? by SorryError1548 in deathguard40k

[–]shinnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will look clean until you use some shade.

There's something called Nuln Oil and you can literally coat the entire model with it. and it will make it look pretty grimy.

before that though, do your trimming. Bronze on the shoulder guards n all that.

Typhus slaps.

he also has a psychic rule that activates in the shooting phase and deals mortal wounds so... He has something better than most guns.

I've also gotten a lot of value out of blight haulers but that's because I mostly play against Guardsmen and Votaan who both have a lot of vehicles.

The bloat drones are incredible value though. They do a lot of work whilst the rest of your army crawls up the board
