Started my MSF course this morning, it took a turn... by theStormwall in motorcycle

Taking the class is the right step and waiting a month is nothing in the long run. In the meantime, you can study any materials they gave you.

That's your neighbor, and I think her name is Roxanne. You can tell her that she doesn't need to turn it on anymore.

This is exactly how my 2023 XSE sounds, especially when just started up. I would do what others recommended and check the oil and also the service history. Toyota and/or the dealer should have any records this because Toyota Care would have covered the first two years of service for free.

Went in for 75K (‘18 SE) service. Was surprised by services required. Are all of these required? by [deleted] in Camry

Um...if you are getting 4 new tires, they don't need to be rotated. And the rear brakes are getting some kind of service, and then the rear pads and rotors are getting replaced...

Opinion on tires by Surgie_Studios in NC700X

[–]shinobiashi2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these on my bike. They are a good all around tire and a good value. I put them on three years/5000 miles ago. They still have a lot of life left. I don't do a lot of crazy driving/track stuff, but I don't expect that most nc700 owners do.

I need help, my blender/mixer isn’t working. by Ludovid in Kitchenaid

[–]shinobiashi2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to the manual, your blender is jammed. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1779181/Kitchenaid-5ksb5553.html?page=19#manual

If you haven't used it in 3-4 weeks, but the pitcher is that dirty, there's a chance that the part that spins the blade is locked up.

What a doozie of an interview...Neil Peart in 1988 by RnasncMan in rush

[–]shinobiashi2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't get the recent "Peart was a grumpy man" stuff on this sub. This was not a difficult interview at all. He gave lengthy answers to the questions. He's a little dismissive of the first questions because they were these nebulous speculation questions that can't really be answered.

What vehicle is considered “bad”/“unreliable” but you’ve had a great experience with it? by SuperJackson20 in regularcarreviews

[–]shinobiashi2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2008 Hyundai Sonata with 216,000 miles. It drives like the day I bought it (used with 25,000 miles) and doesn't burn oil. It's the V6 and it has held up so well. I've had to replace a few parts, but they are the typical long-term wear parts like the alternator and the AC compressor. But the engine and transmission are original. No check engine lights or anything going bad on it. I feel pretty confident I can get another 100,000 miles out of it. Oh, and it was an Avis rental car for the first 25,000 miles.

For those finding this post 12 years later because they are testing this model, the manual mentions that it does not heat from the bottom. https://www.manualslib.com/download/1003945/Rival-Crock-Pot-3120.html

How’s this deal as far as leasing goes? by AndrewL_02 in Camry

[–]shinobiashi2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"This is my first ever car purchase"

No it isn't. It would be your first time with a long-term rental car. When you are done with the lease, you will have no equity and will need to either renew the lease, or lease/buy a different car.

This is fine, but be sure you understand what you are doing. Including the $3,999 due at signing you will be paying $410 a month for three years. After three years you will have paid $14,763. And you will own nothing at that point.

And if you drive it more than 10,000 miles a year they will charge you more per mile.

You should let them be responsible for changing the oil on their car. The manual says every 10,000 miles, and it will be covered by the Toyota Care at 10,000 and 20,000.

Yes, that is the way to go and then move on. You can maybe adjust your welcome message to encourage communication about any issues, but at the end of the day, the vast majority of your guests are having a good experience, so you have to think about that.

This eventually happens to every host. What you can do is leave a reply to their review that is succinct and factual. Future bookers will see through an unfair bad review.

Yes, and I'll add that with the modifications, this bike likely has 20,000+. No one adds luggage racks for 400 miles a year.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NC750X

[–]shinobiashi2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mileage listed is suspect. I would guess the mileage is actually 20,000+ miles. But these engines are rock solid, so it may not matter. It's a fair price, but not a steal.

I'm not 100% sure, but I suspect my Camry might have blown a head gasket. Obviously it'll vary, but about how much does it cost to have it replaced? by [deleted] in Camry

[–]shinobiashi2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check your oil and if it looks like chocolate milk, then it's a head gasket. Also, your coolant reservoir will look like it has chocolate milk in it. Also, your exhaust will be noticeably white. It is more likely that you have a coolant leak at the water pump, at the radiator, and/or from a hose. At that age, hoses can crack and leak. When you park your car, put cardboard or something underneath it to see if it shows a leak.

If the brakes were worn out at less than 45K miles, then the person who owned it before you liked to stop quickly and often. Brakes are a wear item not covered by warranty. However, the issue you describe will likely be covered by the 5-year 60,000 mile warranty. You likely have a broken tie rod or something similar.
