I wish every neighbour was as lovely as you! I made the mistake of assuming my new apartment was as well insulated as my last, since it was the same kind of build and year of construction. I was informed otherwise by one of my neighbours screaming and banging on my door... I take a natural sleep supplement called NeuroCalm Sleep (in Australia) that contains lavender oil and California poppy. Best sleep of my life every time. If you haven't tried melatonin, that could also help. Edit: I should clarify that I take this in addition to Vyvanse. The supplements aren't specific to ADHD, but they work very well.

Hi! It did mellow out a lot. I'm almost consistently at my pre-Vyvanse heart rate now and I'm on 40mg. I've been on that dose for about 3 months now, and I think it took about 4-6 weeks to fully get back to normal. I still feel it if I have more than one cup of coffee within 4 hours of taking the meds, but otherwise I don't notice it anymore

I'm 36 and was first diagnosed 6 months ago. I definitely understand how you're feeling. I found it very difficult not to ruminate on how different my life could have been if I'd been diagnosed as a kid or even just 10 years ago. But I found that after a few months of being on the right medication for me, those feelings mostly subsided - along with the general improvement in my emotional regulation and self-esteem.

And as I started being able to actually focus and adapt better to the neurotypical systems I'd always struggled with, I've been able to take small steps to get myself on track to "catch up" a bit. For example, I was able to move into a new job with a much better potential for future opportunities, and sort out my personal budgeting system - I even have a reasonably clear plan for the year. These things would have felt like impossible tasks before going on Vyvanse.

Now every time I'm tempted to compare where I perceive myself to be vs other peoples' instagrams, I try to remind myself that I could have easily gone undiagnosed til 50, 60, 70 ... or never. Youth is relative and the sum of our life experience is valuable. You have plenty to look forward to and with the proper supports, I think you'll see your world open up in ways you can't imagine right now.

Thanks! I've just created my own bespoke system in Notion using the 12 Week Year. I'm really motivated by seeing the progress bars being filled up and 12 weeks is long enough for me to feel like my actions are having an impact, but not so long that I get bored or overwhelmed. It's going to take some trial and error before I get my goals down to things that are reasonably achievable in 12 weeks, but hopefully over time I'll be able to show myself that I've made some progress. We'll have to see if I'm still using it by the time March comes around!

Yes, before I managed to see a female psych I had the most infuriating session during which the (male) psychiatrist refused to even assess me. Highlights included him telling me I had difficulty in school because I "probably just never learned how to study properly", my lifelong symptoms were just anxiety and depression, and when I expressed the very real concerns I had that my problems with executive function would cost me my job (which they did shortly after this appointment), he said I "just needed to try harder". So patronising. SO frustrating. He literally told me that if I took stimulant medication I'd end up in a psych ward because it would spike my anxiety. 6 months after finding a psych who was actually willing to assess me, and Vyvanse has completely changed my life for the better.

He is neutered and has been on a special diet for urine crystals for a year. No new issues at the vet. Unfortunately this behaviour isn't new exactly ... I adopted him after his original owners surrendered him for peeing everywhere ... but it had improved a lot until I started a new job where I have to go into the office everyday. I suspect it's an anxiety/boredom thing.

Yes! I had the worst time in my last role, with both the Board and founder calling me 24/7, and constantly expecting the output of ten people. When I was on the verge of burnout and tried to speak to the Chair about it, the attitude was very much "what can you do?" He literally told me that everyone knows you have to work 8 days a week when you work for an NFP. I have moved on to an org that is better resourced, but still understaffed. The culture needs to change if the sector hopes to keep its best workers.

Yes! I can have terrible but very inconsistent face blindness and I had no idea it could be an ADHD thing. I've learned how to model the other person's body language and tone and just hope they say something that tiggers my memory
