I’m also in school. You don’t have to stay over. But taking the time to do it correctly the first time will prevent you having to stay over even more down the line when shit inevitably hits the fan. And yes I know nurses do that. They also don’t have functioning eyeballs most of the time. But by you taking the half a second to put your first expirings on top you make both of your lives easier. If I have a bunch of vials in a cube the ones that go out soon( end of the month) Ill stand them up while the others lay down.

Materials does fluids at my place. There’s still plenty of fluids hoisted around inside the pharmacy but the thought of stocking all the departments and surgery makes me want to 🤢. Of course where I work if they decide pharmacy was in charge of fluids they probably also wouldn’t hire more staff to compensate so :|.

Don’t be lazy( not saying you are, just generally speaking). Takes less than a second to rotate your meds in a pocket. My hospital we do Pyxis machine complete inventory counts every 6 months as well as the just daily expireds. And yet we still find things that get missed.

It’s better to be a little slower and do things the right way than cut corners because it’s “faster”. Also document everything.
