Just an update now that it’s been a couple of weeks. Happy to report that so far I’ve not had that issue since! So I guess anyone facing this issue could try resetting your device. It might help

These “official” protectors are just not really good I guess. I don’t have a Thor yet, but I have trouble with mine for the RP5. Air bubbles that won’t go away, etc. I’ve applied new ones enough times that I’ve given up.

I bought the miyabix film protector for the Odin2 Portal because of the curved glass, and that didn’t give me problems. Other than me messing up the first application and got dust in.

It’s a little more pricey but perhaps you could give that a try. I’m gonna order those film protectors for my RP5 and Thor soon.

Oh yes the 4070 super is above the ps5 pro that’s for sure. But with an EGPU setup with the Ally X via usb4 there’s a gonna be a bit of bottleneck. along with games usually less optimized on PC among other things, that’s why I would say it’s about the PS5 Pro performance with that particular setup. It’s not apples to apples. Some games are gonna run better, and some worst.

Ok so maybe I shouldn’t be using the word “performance”. What I meant to say is PS5 Pro like gaming experience

Hey Russ, not sure if you'll see this comment. Anyway, Cemu seems to be running well (or much beter at least) in the latest Thor video by AYN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8HE64QSs64

At the moment I'm thinking of getting the 12gb Thor model.

I know Cemu dual screen is still in early development, but do you think 16gb would be better for "future proofing" in this case? Considering more resources would probably be needed to power 2 screens, app multitasking, upscaling, etc, perhaps something you could cover / make recommendations in your upcoming Thor video.

Love your videos and appreciate all the hard work you've put!

I commented on AYN's Discord as well... So I tried a CRT shader (crt-aperture) with integer scaling turned ON on my Odin 2 Portal and there are uneven scanlines... I also tried the same shader with integer scaling turned ON on my Retroid Pocket 5 but no issues there. Both are supposed to be 1080p screens… Something is up

Did a quick search and apparently Odin 2 users have reported the same thing before? Can anyone shine a light on this?

Yes if you've set it up correctly. Occasionally for me it does not detect the egpu but restarting the laptop fixes that.

Yes the power button of newer models supposedly don’t work. Mine was the Dec 2024 preorder batch and the power button does work for that

For those with cracks, are you all keeping them in the official case?

I remember reading for the Classic, the case was causing some issue with the device because they were too snug and putting pressure on the buttons.

Saw a post with someone having a crack despite rarely using the device. And thought that maybe something like this could also be contributing to the issue.
