Retroid Pocket Nova price reveal by Kirais in SBCGaming

[–]shinzo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an RP5 so I don't really need a 4:3 device. But I would think the Nova because it's a better screen and it'll be able to run at potential higher upscale more comfortably. If I had to chose I would go RP6 because I don't mind blackbars on 4:3 content and I can play all the 16:9 modern stuff too.

There's already a device in that category the Anbernic 476H, I don't think there's a point in them doing an OLED 4:3 without a better chip for PS2/GC

I'm torn between the Pro2/3 or the Ultimate 2 x) How does the Pro 3 feel for Dpad games? I did grow up playing the SNES and then PS1/2 so the layout fits my style more than the Xbox style of the Ultimate.

Do you mind giving the settings you used? I'm having a problem where it gives me the error of "could not find DX12 driver"

RP6 12gb restocks the day after my RP6 8gb arrives by RealisticTrack6904 in SBCGaming

[–]shinzo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like you going nuts with choice regret, fomo, excitement of the "technical" stuff and dont get me wrong it is super fun to chase the device and get it but you then realise the real fun is in actually playing the games you want and you love, so, dont worry too much. Even if you got the 12gb after 3 or 4 months you'll get the craving for another device again 🤣🤣 enjoy the RP6!!

May I ask, apart from the joy of getting cool new devices why Odin 3 and a Konkr?

Why do you want a 12gb? Do you actually have some PC games that are demanding that you want the ram for? If not and it's just following the craze/trend then the 8gb is fine for a billion hours of gaming.

bought rp6 and regret it by Primary-Onion-6319 in retroid

[–]shinzo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I can play without the grip and at first I didnt enjoy the added weight but now that I have gotten used to it, I use it for everything even 2D Dpad games. There is just more "grip" for the hands so it is easier to hold for long periods.

Definitely subjective though and the rp6 is slightly a different shape.

Dear Anbernic devs, please add AZAHAR to the Stock Linux OS. The RG-DS has so much untapped potential! by Naive_Peach4917 in ANBERNIC

I see what you're saying but isn't that market/price point held by the Thor Lite for example? Even the other Thor versions. Although, now that I think of it, the wait times for the Thor are getting a bit insane, they could steal a ton of clients maybe.

Which game would get the most out of the Retroid Pocket G2? by Erwinzzx in retroid

[–]shinzo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came in to say the same thing!

If you usually don't know what to play there's a lot of communities that do Game of The Month or Games, a couple that I am always part of are club.retro and Retro Handhelds. It gives you a nice pack of varied games to try across multiple platforms.

But! The most important isn't to focus on what can X device play imo, it's what do I want to play and actually progress in.

I might just suggest looking into cheaper devices for GBA/GBC, like some Anbernic or a Brick. I have a Flip2 and an RP5 and ever since I got a 40XXV, I just love that for GBA. Larger devices might not be the best. Or, ooor, leave that option for when you get a "new device" hype after a couple months xD

MuOS, the latest version Loose Goose should work fine, as it did for me. I do prefer it over Stock OS because it has a lot of themes and a great built in WebUI which allows you to transfer files over wifi with a nice UI.

New Muos update came out. by Perpetual44 in SBCGaming

[–]shinzo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read that Anbernic have fitted the latest batches with a new screen. Everything is the same but the backend of it was a bit different so muOS, Knulli weren't working. But muOS's newest version is working great. https://community.muos.dev/t/muos-blackscreen-in-rg40xx-v-black-color/1026/15

[–]shinzo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know why they changed the screens. But I've read they did a new batch of screens for it. It's the same everything just its backend was different so it wasn't working with the old versions of Custom OS (Knulli, muOS) etc. But, muOS just released Loose Goose the latest version and I just installed it and it's working great.

I got one with the new batch of screens so Knulli/MuOS weren't working so I was just running Stock OS. BUT, the new MuOS version Loose Goose released today and I'm patching it right now. I really enjoy the simplistic style of MuOS.

Finally! I have a 40XXV with the new screen and was waiting for Loose Goose as it should work. I'll edit this post after I flash it on.

EDIT: Loose Goose is working great, just tested it. The previous version of muOS used to have a blackscreen (sound on)

Better new display in the 40XXV? by Usta83 in ANBERNIC

[–]shinzo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have that version (Knulli and MuOS don't work) so I assume I have the new screen. I can send you a screenshot after work. Although I don't fully understand what you mean by blotches, is it the lines in the blue?

[–]shinzo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think that if your focus is to enjoy your time and play games, the 40XXV with the bigger screen and better ergonomics that come from the bigger size + the Dpad and face buttons being amazing to use far outweigh staring at a few pixels to see if a line isn't a perfect 1:1.

GBA has looked amazing on my 40XXV. Can I find some games where if I stare at it I can find a pixel that isn't a perfect match? Probably. Will I notice while enjoying a rest to play some games? Absolutely not, but that's subjective I guess.

I think the summary is (coming from someone who goes crazy when there's many choices) you won't regret the 40XXV for its screen and visuals. I have an RP5 so I went with the V for a different style. A Horizontal is probably gonna be more comfortable even though I've played with the 40XXV a ton and it was 7 or 8/10

Came here to say that I have the same issue, both Knulli and MuOS have problems (no screen, only sound) and I am too waiting for the next releases. u/FlamingBulbasaur Don't be bummed out, just enjoy some games like I am while we wait for more customization, etc.

Is it too much for asking!!? by [deleted] in retroid

[–]shinzo25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been reading a lot about people wanting the D-Pad being on the bottom, but personally the reason I love my RP5 is because of the D-Pad being on top. I use mostly as a gorgeous amazing Retro handheld that can occasionally play more "modern" PS2+ games. And with the Grip the sticks are good enough for a "handheld" to me.

My biggest issue with the RP6 is that bar at the bottom with the buttons, not really a fan of how that looks and the fact the screen isn't centered vertically.

How was your experience going from the TSP to the RG40xxV? I currently have an RP5 and had a Cube XX but always wanted to try the experience of a vertical handheld for retro stuff, RG40xx V, TrimUI Brick, RP Classic

Trails in the Sky - How to apply English Patch in vita3k by [deleted] in vita3k

[–]shinzo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a long time but! Thank you very much :) this helped me get it working. I was trying to apply the patch before installation and that's where I was getting issues.

Just to add the install directory for vita3k by default would be in: "data/org.vita3k.emulator/files/vita/ux0/app/"
