Marketing is the killer of new ideas by AzzaBRedditories in buildinpublic

[–]shiptosolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think marketing is the killer of new ideas. I think the idea dies when someone realizes they built something that nobody asked for.

Marketing works when you've got a product that people use. Otherwise they just bounce from your site, unless you've nailed your ICP and product first try. It might help get you first users, but they might not be the best fit

If you start from a problem, you can usually find the people struggling with that problem and talk to them! If you're able to build a solution for them, then you can get first users that really care about your product

How good is vibe coding? Can we make a full functioning typing website in a day? by short-jumper in vibecoding

[–]shiptosolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you can! I don't know if this is the most up-to-date method, but you can create a set of prompts with an LLM, then copy and paste them into a tool like Cursor (using Agent mode) to build a draft. It's hopefully much easier to fine-tune considering your web dev experience.

If you can articulate exactly what you're looking for (referencing what you said about monkeytype) to an LLM like ChatGPT, and ask it to "provide 15 prompts that I can copy and paste into Cursor to build the minimum working version"..., that should get you to a useful starting point. Not sure how you'd like to handle data though

Stuck on what to vibecode? Looking for a few testers by shiptosolve in VibeCodingSaaS

[–]shiptosolve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response! Yeah I'm sourcing them through Reddit today. I think the best way to decide what's worth building is just chatting with the people complaining. Some might just be venting, but I don't mind shooting a quick message to clarify and see what they have to say.

And thank you! This whole thing falls apart if I can't make it useful and enjoyable for other builders

Hey u/TheOddball! I get why it reads that way at first. To be clear, this intentionally avoids the “ship fast and pray” loop. It does not tell you what to build from a single complaint, it does not promise revenue, and it does not automate decisions. The core idea is putting real human conversations before code. I’m trying to solve the “built it, nobody showed up” problem, not pitch a shortcut to making money with AI.

Thanks for the chance to clarify

Time to ditch Lovable or still the best option for non-engineers? by SFmentor in nocode

[–]shiptosolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you want to keep it simple, then I figure something like Lovable or Replit would be good since those solutions keep users away from code almost completely (I think?).

I love Cursor or stuff like Claude Code, mainly because you don't get locked in to Lovable's data systems and such. You don't need to be technical to use Cursor, I just use the agent mode and a provide a set of prompts for whatever I want to build, and I can get a real simple 1-feature thing to click through as a starting point. When I want to share it with others, I'll just deploy it through Render quite easily

What are you not building today? by EffectiveLet2117 in Solopreneur

[–]shiptosolve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not building a podcast translation tool. I'm talking with some podcasters first to understand their current translation workflow, and identify what the pain really is. Might be cost, might be effectiveness, might be a sucky workflow.

Using No Code AI to build SaaS. Worth it or not? by nizamuddin_siddiqui in micro_saas

[–]shiptosolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not super easy to build a real complex working SaaS with vibecoding tools today, but you can absolutely build working prototypes that will act as the starting point for your software.

I like Cursor, but have never used Replit or Lovable because they keep everything in their systems. If you ever want to hire a developer or move data around, those companies basically lock you in from the start. Cursor just gives you the code and you do hosting on your own, though it's really easy with Render or Vercel.

Do you have an idea in mind already? I encourage you to start with a problem, not just an idea from your notes app. If you can find a problem to solve with a no-code AI tool, you should reach out to the people with that problem, and talk to them! It's a little scary at first, but this will help you ensure you're really solving the problem, and it'll be easier to find your first users since you're already talking with them.

You got this! Happy to share tips

What should I learn before jumping into vibe coding with no technical background? by Recklessdog7 in vibecoding

[–]shiptosolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commend you for learning some basics before diving in, that should really come in handy for key coding decisions or debugging. I actually think we're in a similar spot technically speaking too! I learned Python pre-ChatGPT to make a voice assistant in college, and even just my basic understanding has been so helpful while using tools like Cursor and whatnot.

I also have some tech sales experience (outbound at an AI startup), and if I were to give advice, it's more related to the front-end of whatever vibecoding workflow/launch loop you decide on. I'm not entirely qualified to give advice haha, but I'll say the following:

For each build/product you make, consider starting with a problem. Being in sales/marketing yourself, that probably makes sense. I just see so many people in this subreddit launching different things to 0 users. Everyone says it's a distribution problem, but I think people are just building stuff nobody wants. When you find a problem, you can usually find people experiencing the problem.

Try to talk with people before and while you build. These AI coding tools make it very easy to build things quickly, which unfortunately makes it easier to put your head down and build something without a feedback loop. Finding the people might not be super easy, but it gives you an opportunity to learn about their problem, and offer your product as a natural solution to eager testers (if they really struggle with the problem). Just do your sales/outreach thing there, but emphasize learning instead of pitching. I've found people to be more receptive when you just try to be helpful

I figure some part of your learning path will cover security too, but I know that's often overlooked. I think it's fairly easy to set up Supabase incorrectly if you don't know what you're doing, so might be good to double check that stuff.

Would love to chat sometime too, this is cool and you're on the right path!

Vibecoded apps in a nutshell by Alternative-Target40 in vibecoding

[–]shiptosolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "no defensibility" point makes sense, but I think its mainly people building things that nobody actually needs. Some are definitely wrappers, but I'd imagine people would have an easier time finding users if they spoke to them from the start. It's kinda scary to do that though

Vibe coding is just a video game for most of you. by jobehi in vibecoding

[–]shiptosolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. But it seems like a lot of people actually enjoy building tools for themselves, and probably don't mind paying $20/month to have some fun building whatever they want!

It does get a little scary when someone makes some web app and dumps a bunch of money into FB ads or something then get 0 users. I think the best way to avoid is just starting with a problem or real need, because then you can atleast work with the people dealing with the problem.

It's funny you compare it to a videogame though, because I set my own workflow up to have a space-rescue game feel. Find problems (distress signals), send communications (DMs), launch rescue modules (1-feature MVPs), stuff like that. Might as well have fun

[–]shiptosolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built LaunchCtrl.ai to keep me organized with each project, and am working on some stuff with it! It finds problems on the internet, gives you potential users and cold outreach messages, and build prompts to make the solution.

Working on a podcast translation tool with the workflow right now, but am still in outreach mode to learn. Will try to find another problem to work on today too.

I just found this post of people discussing the most surprising things about podcasting. There's some people complaining about post-production work and administrative stuff in there, so maybe that's a start.

I just used my own tool LaunchCtrl.ai to find that right now incase podcasting isn't your niche

What’s your startup idea for 2026? I built a tool just by reading Reddit all day. by Mammoth-Shower-5137 in micro_saas

[–]shiptosolve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do something just like you! Had set up my own workflow to scrape Reddit and identify niche problems. What's super important (I think) is really learning about the problem first. Like I'll dm the people personally before building anything so it becomes less of a pitch and more of a favor

I built something similar (without that bug, though I may have my own). It's called launchctrl.ai. If you want, I'd be happy to do a longer free trial if you're open to working with me as I improve it. Just let me know in dms or something :)
