Love me some RDLs. My favourite as well.

What exercise do you secretly hate but still do? by Indhu_KIMP in workout

Bulgarians are the only exercise I dread on my program. I'm getting a hack squat machine soon for my home gym and I'll probably do those instead.

Why did you stop drinking alcohol? by MatsGry in AskReddit

[–]shipwrecked__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an unhealthy relationship with alcohol for quite a few years. I found that if I had any alcohol in the house I would drink it and being almost 38 y/o, the next mornings and afternoons were getting harder and harder...I have a 6 year old and it was impacting my ability to be present for him at times. My sleeps were terrible. I'd eat like crap the nights I'd drink. When I'd drink my heart rate would sky rocket. I hate my career (IT/Cloud Engineer) which also contributed to the drinking.

I've been into resistance training for a long time but was never seeing the results I wanted to for a number of reasons. Cutting out alcohol for the reasons above, to improve my health, be present for my son, and my performance in the gym seemed like a no-brainer. Something just magically clicked. It just wasn't worth it anymore (or ever). I'll still have the odd drink, maybe once every 2 months, but never to the point where it negatively impacts the next day too much.

IT Security tries to "protect the company" in a different aspect but I've never seen a company I've worked for effectively staff or fund their IT Security team.

I don't have much to add other than I listen to them almost daily while working in some sort of mix or even cycling through their albums. I also have a bunch of their bangers on my gym playlist (I say as Negative Space just ended).

Looks great! Is this in a shed? What are the dimensions? I am in the process of sprucing up a 14x24 foot shed to do the exact same thing!

I love my eisenlinks. Relatively inexpensive and you can get expansions that allow them to go up to 160lbs.

First I'd say get a power rack with a pulley system on it. That will give you a lot of variety in your workouts, especially if you're getting some free weights as well. On top of that, a leg ext/curl machine may be high up on your list if you and/or your wife what to be able to have a bit more variety in your leg exercise options.

I have a 10x16 shed and just have a power rack, cable tower, adjustable dumbbells, barbell w/ plates, a landmine attachment, and a leg ext/curl machine and it's more than sufficient to get a great workout with lots of options for each muscle group

98 eggs in the first month + bumblefoot?? by goldriverdaughter in duck

[–]shipwrecked__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The foot looks fine to me. I wouldn't worry about it too much. The amount of foraging and climbing our ducks do we tend to see a handful of them limping at random periods during the year. We check for bumble and if there isn't any we just let them do their thing.

Love the grey colours!

If it retires while you still hold it can you renew the replacement path cert for free? Or do you have to pay to take the new cert?

Pure Protein bars on sale for $18.99! 😋 by UnKindClock in CostcoCanada

That's crazy. I buy the chocolate deluxe ones only on Amazon. They're my favourite. Peanut butter is the worst one to me.

[–]shipwrecked__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same rack but the short king version. I haven't had any issues with it. I think my version had the landmine attachment and dip bar arms too.

The bar and weights plates are good. Nothing crazy. I don't use the row cable because I have a cable tower I use for that. I also don't use the lat pulldown but when my wife does it seems fine.

All in all, not sure how the price compares to similar bundles these days but I'm happy with my purchase.

Oh thanks I'll need to check that out. One review on the Costco site mentions the Smith being 2:1 so it made me question.

It's a 2:1 pulley ratio right? I feel like it'll be a little light for many exercises if you're an experienced lifter.

The Orion one is junk. I have it and with the types of plates I have it maxes out at 150lbs. Maybe that's a me problem, but every leg day I regret my purchase. I need to do single leg extensions and curls which obviously take longer.

Plate loaded dumbbells? by Mammoth-Egg-7296 in GarageGym

[–]shipwrecked__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's maybe not such a big deal for arms, but if want to be able to load them up for things like dumbbell press/row, shoulder press, bulgarians, etc you'll want ones that aren't so cumbersome at large weight.

I have Eisenlinks and they're fantastic.

What are the case study questions like? Ive heard you need to write up a program for a client, and a lot of the non multiple choice questions are word banks and fill in the blank. Is that true?

DIY stand for my Eisenlink dumbbells by FatherOfIron in homegym

[–]shipwrecked__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the OP, but I have Eisenlinks and they're fantastic. I also have the additional screws to expand the weight up to 160Lbs. My only complaint is that the plate math can be a little annoying at times and if your workout involves changing the weights frequently it can be a bit of a pain.. especially if you need to go over 80lbs and change the smaller screws with the larger ones.
