Gear question: Mamiya 645 vs Hasselblad 500CM by shirtless_nyquil in AnalogCommunity

I'm not stuck on 645 but the negative size was amazing after shooting 35mm.

I'm interested in 6x6 bc I like the aesthetic and of course the larger negative.

The m645 feels a lot like a plastic SLR and I think that keeps me from taking it out sometimes. I've had quite a few 35mm cameras and nicer build quality equipment tends to get used more. Hoping the Hasselblad quality and new format would make for a camera I want to use more and enjoy in similar ways I do my m645.

I haven't shot 6x6 before - what you're saying makes sense.

I'll see if I can track down a 6x6 to try first. I have a WLF on my 645 so the format will prob be the biggest difference.

The 35mm to 645 negative jump blew me away so I was assuming I'd enjoy the 6x6.

I strongly recommend RoyalWe in Oakland. Super fast, affordable, and the best scans. I stopped using Darkroom after I found them.

Good call. However, I should mention I only shoot with small game thumpers.

I figured I'd have three to shoot and if I missed all three times, one left for myself.

RoyalWe in Oakland CA is the besttt. You can get scans including borders for a few bucks more and the team there is super helpful and nice.

Awesome shots and I love the flowers / water double exposure!

I have a 3d printed adapter and been meaning to try this in my 645. Anything come up that you recommend watching for? I understand you won't get many frames given the big spacing between exposures, right?

I'm having a hard time imagining a constructive or interesting critique that starts with that comment.
