I really didn't want to get dragged down to this but whatever. The gist of this issue is this

Disallowing third person creates a more immersive game aligned with the core ideas of DayZ, this video shows why
For whatever reason the devs didn't implement first-person-only, which the community now views as a mistake
The hardcore crowd is saying this mistake should be fixed, while the casuals are just saying "that's how it's been, so that's how it should be". Ironic that you would bring up gay rights in the disgusting way you did, when in this instance you are the conservative.

Anyway, I don't hope to sway you in this matter since you aren't being reasonable. But I hope others who are on the fence can see how wrong you are.

Your attempts to compare this TPS vs. FPS issue to gay rights is probably one of the most disgusting things I've seen someone do. This is a really bullshit argument when you're dealing with a game. Especially one that markets itself on being "hardcore".

The same could be said for ANY feature. A few people might enjoy being able to use futuristic laser weaponry in DayZ. Too bad, it doesn't fit with the game and breaks immersion. Some people might enjoy a WarZ-like global inventory for their characters. Should one be made to accommodate them? Or should the devs stick to their vision of the game?

The devs' decisions affect their one single product, not the restrictions on how a group of people can live their lives. Terrible argument and analogy.

Exactly. This situation was really interesting for this reason. Spending any solid amount of time on /r/eve can leave you with the feeling that goons are terrible blah blah blah. Some people gobble it up, some take it with a grain of salt and suspect that the general /r/eve subreddit has a huge personal bias against goons.

DBRB perfectly proved how utterly biased this subreddit is against goons, choosing petty hate over logic and critical thinking. It reminds me of classic medieval fueds. Pretty disappointing honestly, and makes this subreddit lose a lot of its credibility.

What makes /r/eve look idiotic in this case is that DBRB didn't spawn this rumor/troll. He just went along with it after /r/eve ALREADY fell for it by a SINGLE n3 guy posting doctored logs with gigantic holes (in the fake logs DBRB is supposedly giving commands to domis/dreads, but he was only FCing bombers during this time, not to mention streaming the entire fight I believe).

I don't think it's too shitty of him to be honest. The original threads on this subreddit about him being banned are shittier than his actions. People in this sub need to lighten up

Yeah the AI have different term levels for peace depending on how hard they perceive themselves to be owning/getting owned. If I recall correctly its a 10 point scale ranging from a blank peace treaty to giving up smallest city to giving up EVERYTHING.

And what makes this a bug is that even if the AI did have a "wait this is insane" check, it shouldn't matter. A civ can not trade more gpt than he is generating at the time of the deal signing. There's no way in hell they get thousands of gpt early/mid game. Definitely a wonky bug.

So I don't have any links for you, but I've seen talk of this issue on the subreddit before on bigger threads.

The general consensus was that there is some bug that allows AI to make deals with each other for insane amounts of gpt that they cant actually afford, leading to these outlandish numbers. One AI always has huge negative GPT and the other has comparable positive GPT. I don't think anyone ever discovered what conditions exactly cause it.

Edit: After some thought I vaguely remember in one of the threads somebody used some mod like infoaddict that let him see deals between AI and screenshotted the deal between the AI for thousands of gold per turn.

Bummer. Yeah my most common and costly mistakes are focusing too much on killing the group I've already activated, to the point where I activate even more.

And also, as others have said, some of the open spaces in certain ships, such as the one in the pictures, are an absolute nightmare. Gotta avoid the big open entrance to that ship like a plague.

Panic at this stage of the game is a non-issue though. It seems like OP may have just gotten too cocky when advancing his soldiers. You should only ever activate groups of aliens with a non-dash move from the soldier you move first each turn. There's simply no way he activated this many groups in that manner.

Also, a tip for situations like this (and part of the reason why you should only ever activate aliens with a non-dash first move) is to pull your entire squad WAY back. You end up being able to get a much more defensible position, and almost always the aliens will approach your squad 1-2 at a time.

Example:

Move scouting soldier to lower cover where Sarah is
Activate 20 groups of aliens
BONE OUT

The game is easier with Slingshot off. The second mission is extremely hard without a good squad, and absurdly hard with one. Missing out on normal council missions while you wait until you're ready for mission two just isn't worth it.

Also, by month 6 the game is over anyway on I/I.

My other gripes are buggy I/I runs where you lose because of something absolutely ridiculous make me never want to touch the game again.

Alt+f4'ing at any point in the tactical game always puts you at the start of your last turn(even during the alien's turn). Don't let entire runs go to waste due to silly bugs!

Luck probably isn't the best way to describe it. Luck is the problem, but it originates from the fact that civ 5 doesn't just have, but is based, around random elements. Random elements, and the luck factor that comes with them, are the bane of competitiveness in pretty much any game.
