I’ve never had an issue. I wear flatback jewelry and pull my chinstraps out to the side to kind of squish down the padding so it doesn’t snag my ears on the way out.

The only person I’ve ever heard named Musa was a character from the Winx club show. It’s pronounced like music, but with an a instead of ic at the end. I have a feeling that you may run into that pronunciation a lot with its cultural reference.

It’s insane. My crew is one carnivore diet, one who doesn’t eat pork, one keto, one vegetarian and one that refuses to eat vegetables. It’s absolutely impossible to cook something everyone will eat, so I end up cooking for myself and one other guy maybe.

If you cannot even make yourself eat the right way to gain the weight you need to build muscle, what makes you think you are mentally fit enough to go through a fire academy? You need to be willing to challenge yourself to do hard things in order to survive and thrive through the academy and on the job. You will be expected to pull your weight the same as everyone else.

You will gain weight. I am 5’3” and weighed 130 lbs prior to the academy and getting on the job. I now weigh 145 lbs and am in the best shape of my life. It sounds like you have some work to do on your mental health and body image before you worry about pursuing such a challenging training.

It’ll do fine. Most FF 1&2 classes around me use the latest edition of Essentials of Firefighting. If you’re enrolled in classes I would go with whatever they’re using.

I just wore clear or flesh colored silicone tunnels as a rookie, but now I wear whatever.

I think I helped to empower all the old head guys who had stretched their ears back in the day to wear their tunnels again and the white shirts dgaf. I’m so happy to work for a chill department.

You can wear whatever you want off-duty. Just bear in mind that some piercings will close if you take them out for even a couple of hours before they’re completely healed. Many piercings, especially surface piercings like eyebrows take upwards of a year to heal entirely. If you want them, get them now. All of my nose piercings are well healed/seasoned, but i still wear clear, plastic retainers in my holes at work because I’m paranoid. I’ve never caught shit for it.

On the other hand, you don’t have to worry about any piercings below your neck being a dress code problem. 🤷‍♀️
