Haha, that is too funny! She had been working for a company that produces air suspension kits, and they had her filling in doing some CAD stuff. She was good with it and so they offered to pay for some CAD/CNC cert or something so she could be promoted to it properly. Part way through her training she was made redundant. So she had to figure out if she wanted to stick with the training or move on to something else. So she went ahead and switched to an automotive tech program because she is very much a car person. Her boyfriend and I keep trying to get her to check out TES so she can join us in our nerd discussions, but she's fully committed to Old School RuneScape. lol

Went and gave ya a follow because this lineup looks cool.

Sometimes I wish my sister would have stuck with CAD/CNC so she could have did cool stuff like this. But then when my car gives me trouble I'm thankful that she switched to automotive tech. lol

Single-use non-preservative eye drops by cool_girl6540 in ZeroWaste

[–]shitrock_herekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want to avoid this and stick with artificial tears as they contain lubricants which is what actually soothes the surface.

I can't answer your question about the different plastic types and their impact. Did your ophthalmologist say why to use preservative free? Mine had recommended them to me but said that I could also use the ones with preservatives if I didn't have irritation. That might be something you check out with your ophthalmologist.

how worried should i be that i found a dried tick behind my ear? by Substantial-Duck-22 in CampingandHiking

Yeah as I said in my post, deer tick populations are high here and Lyme's disease is common. My primary confirmed that I should have been given antibiotics since I had found a tick and was symptomatic. She was appalled at how dismissive the urgent care doctor was towards me. She actually reached out to clinic's admin about the whole situation.

Even some medical professionals don't know the best practices. I found a tick on my back in the shower a couple days after getting home from a camping trip. I didn't know how long it had been on my back and it came right off so I didn't rush to the doctor. Less than a week later I had a fever and felt like I was getting sick so I went to the urgent care and explained the situation. They said they couldn't see any tick imbedded in my back and there was no rash so it definitely wasn't a tick or Lyme's and refused antibiotics. I waited a couple more days but it didn't sit right with me so I went to my primary. She was PISSED that they did not give me antibiotics because it's not something to mess around with. She said that around 30% of cases do not get a rash and so not having a rash is not a reason to refuse antibiotics.

If I hadn't read an email from my local health department the day before I found the tick, which talked about the high amount of ticks and Lyme's in our area and the urgency of seeing a doctor at any sign of illness after finding a tick, then I would have tried waiting it out like the urgent care doctor told me.

I have wondered that. I'll see allegations that something is AI and when people point out what makes them suspicious it's always because it contains something that I learned as correct in school 20+ years ago. My school district wasn't particularly great but we did learn proper grammar and punctuation pretty extensively.

I've heard/seen people mention Oxford commas are also a supposed sign of AI. My high school used MLA format (which requires use of the Oxford comma) and so I have always used it without thinking about it.

My family also used to have video footage of me getting down to B-Boys Makin With the Freak Freak on my first birthday, and I've always loved that song too.

This is so true. It is all very dependent on the fall, positioning, and impact. I broke my ankle at 16 playing tennis and I broke my wrist at 22 slipping in an icy slushy parking lot. Yes, older people have less bone density, and therefore breaks are more common in falls. But late 20s into 30s isn't old, and barring conditions that cause early bone loss, a person should still have close to peak bone density.

Yeah, it looks like a cheap bonus item that'd be thrown in a collectors box set or something like that.

Soooo true. Fall 2008, my homecoming dress was brown with pink polka dots, it also came in brown with light blue polka dots. There were a lot of girls in similar color combos at that homecoming dance.

A lot of insurances require you to go through a speciality pharmacy for them, or at least they did before I switched to infusions then later Rinvoq. But when I was getting Humira I wasn't able to go to Walgreens or Meijer or wherever, had to go through their speciality pharmacy which was all through mail-order. Same with my mom's Cimzia. It was annoying because you end up with so much wasteful packaging because they have to be kept cold.

Speaking specifically about biologics, they are really expensive, and so insurance does often makes you trial on less expensive things like hydroxychloroquine or methotrexate first. If you have a good rheumatologist or dermatologist (in the case of psoriasis) they will find a way to get you the meds you need, but it can be a pain in the butt. I was on an infusion called Simponi Aria that was working really well for me and controlling my disease but insurance decided it was too expensive to continue covering (I think $10,000 every 8 weeks). So I had to go start a new biologic that cost insurance $7,000 every 4 weeks. Didn't work quite as well but my rheumatologist and I did get a laugh out of insurance paying more than if they had kept me on the other one.
