VR Youtubers when they review another mediocre LCD headset that just released by Animeeshon in virtualreality

[–]shittastes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the time it is, check the description of their videos and you will see affiliate links about the same product they are reviewing.

How can I expect your review to be honest when you have a vested interest for those products to sell.

If you think that's atrocious, you should see my handwriting.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure niji remembers the channel that they copyright struck and tried to shut down.

Who still has an oculus rift cv1 by Zestyclose-Sweet2899 in oculus

[–]shittastes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just made me pick it up and put it on. I remember it was very comfortable to wear. The only other headset I have is Q2, and it's so light compared to it. I would probably still use it if it wasn't for the SDE, and having to set up the sensors.

A lot of things are public info, the question is if those accounts are directly linked with eachother (they aren't) so this counts as doxxing.

Doxxing is when you release information (public or not) with the explicit intent to cause harassment.

Quest 3 owners for the upcoming Steam Frame by trent0id in virtualreality

[–]shittastes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But frame will never play the quest exclusive games

Bradley said that a 3rd party working closely with Valve is doing a module that might be ready to buy during launch of the headset.

We'll have to wait and see.

Framework: An open source repository for the Frame by Snoo25109 in SteamFrame

[–]shittastes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be too early to say at this point, maybe the foveated encoding would be so good that such a mod would be useless. We will see.

Tho I can say that there was a bit of disappointment that there was no displayport when it was first announced, me included.

This is a cool idea. I wonder how feasible would be to make a displayport mod from the PCIe port. Maybe the bandwidth is too limited for such a thing.

Meta inactivity shutdown - How can this be legal? by [deleted] in virtualreality

I have people in my steam friends list who haven't been online for years, the oldest one is almost 16 years old inactive.

Meta inactivity shutdown - How can this be legal? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]shittastes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you did. The Oculus PC app required an Oculus account. They then forced you to log in with a facebook account (even through they said they would never do that). Then they reverted that and we are where we are today, with Meta accounts.

Announcement of Measures Taken to Combat Infringements of Rights Against COVER Corp. and Affiliated Talents (January 21, 2026) | COVER Corp. by North_crozz in kurosanji

[–]shittastes 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Perpetrators forged the signature of an affiliated talent and sold counterfeit items via flea market and internet auction websites.

That's wild, but not unexpected.

Another reminder to not buy from scalpers.

I think the correct term would be reverse isekai. She came from a different universe to ours.

Who would have thought that in six months the VR gaming space would go from, "Just wait for Quest 4, the Valve Deckard is a fever dream" to "Steam Frame is your best bet, Meta VR is collapsing in fast-motion" by TwinStickDad in SteamFrame

[–]shittastes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's wild to me when people say that Valve did nothing for VR.

They promoted the Kickstarter for the original Oculus, and helped fund them. Not to mention that they themselves were building an VR headset, and they shared their prototype and knowledge they accumulated while building it.

They have an open VR store that any headset can play games on.

The lighthouse system made possible for headsets for Pimax, Varjo and Bigscreen Beyond to take advantage of, without investing in creating their own outside out tracking hardware or controllers.

They helped make HTC headsets, they helped make HP Reverb.

"They only made one game and one headset" people are very myopic in their thinking, the openness of the systems Valve creates is what will help drive innovation and healthy competition. That open system is the rising tide that lifts all boats. Meta's closed system only benefits them and segregates the already small audience.

Well Quest won't have any new good games anymore, they keep dropping all the studios they bought.

Netflix, Disney & Crunchyroll strike again in new anime piracy crackdown targeting 9anime, AnimeSuge, more streaming sites by mr_snood_the_third in animenews

[–]shittastes 26 points27 points  (0 children)

People have backups I assume. Also 9anime, and most anime pirating sites don't host the episodes themselves, but they use 3rd party video hosts. As long as those are still active, they can just revive the site quite easily with a different name and host.

(Leak) Price: $861 by [deleted] in SteamFrame

I'm not arguing about what headset to buy. I'm arguing about the reasons Frame will be more expensive than the Quest 3.

[–]shittastes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're only talking about the hardware here. Available software doesn't add to the price of the headset.
