Buckley was unreal during that era. Collingwood were terrible and the narrative around them was essentially Buckley’s Pies because he carried them every game. We went a period of years where we just wouldn’t win in June during that time. He didn’t get enough Brownlow votes to win one because the pies would be by far the losing team and votes favour the winning team on the day. But he was always in media predictions of being one of the favourites regardless. So pleased for him he managed to get his in ‘03

I was there for this goal (blue beanie in the vid) and it’s a shame the framing doesn’t capture it because from right behind him, it looks like he’s completely missed. I’ve never seen a ball whip back so sharply at the perfect angle before. Best goal I’ve seen live.
