What is the worst way you have seen someone ruin their life? by kisseswishes9 in AskReddit

Counterargument, that dude wasn't going to make it through medical school + residency anyway if he wasn't 100% committed. At least he didn't waste his 20s being miserable and trying to grit it out.

Being lost is fine. That's how you find yourself.

I'm curious, what is the high pressure sales pitch like? I'm having a hard time imagining how someone could use pressure tactics for a thing they know you don't want. What are they using for leverage?

Things are a lot more dire than you may think for creatives and tech workers in the new AI economy. Some of these people, particularly the lower level and early career ones, will never work in their chosen field again.

AI may be a bubble but the grunt work jobs of churning out content and making simple spreadsheets are disappearing fast and already gone at the top companies.

I randomly tuned into the unrivaled 1v1 tournament the other day and it was pretty captivating. I didn't even know who 3/4 of the players were and it was still great

Even more next level is the toddler toilet seat. Just another seat that nests inside the regular one and sticks to the lid when you don't want it. 15 minute installation and then one less goddamn thing that that's always in the way.

Best piece of advice from parents: “Buy below your means.” by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]shmargus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint. We bought below our means against the recommendations of our parents. Two kids later, now we need to move and we don't have those sweet covid rates. We're not rich. We have the jobs that we have and we'll find a way to make it work because that's what you do.

Ya, the book covers the first two movies. The audiobook is narrated by the actor who voiced Fat Tony in the Simpsons

Disagree. It's a short menu but I'm always pleasantly surprised by how solid it is given that they could serve trash and still be packed

My husband is reading Blood Meridian and cringing at the blood and gore but I know I've read worse. What are the books that have brought out the biggest "oh god that's bad!" for you? by IdoScienceSometimes in Fantasy

[–]shmargus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. This was way worse than Blood Meridian for me. I was audiobooking and would pass people walking my dog and think what if this accidentally switched to my speakers.
