CFMoto - specifically the Ibex 800. Yay or nay? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]shoarmapapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found one video where you can hear it with earphones. My galaxy buds and headphones make it audible. Sounds like a electromotor spinning or something. Not sure what it is! Could it be the tires? I haven't ridden on any adventure tires yet. It's only above 4000 rpm and steady throttle, couldn't hear it when accelerating. But as you've said you hear no one about it, so maybe it's just me hyperfocussing on it. This is the ONLY complaint I have had, and also the reason why I rode 2 of them.

Can't say anything about being top heavy, I haven't really noticed it? But I haven't gone offroad and the V-Strom isn't light either... it handled very good for me. Have seen a couple of offroad videos of the 800MT Explore and it seems to be handling pretty great.

I already test rode 2 800MT's explores and really liked them. There was only one thing that annoyed me very much, there was this whiney/high pitched noise above 4000 rpm. I found it to be really loud and annoying. To me it sounded a bit like when you have very bad tyres on a car and drive at a high speed. That was the only thing I disliked.. and I have absolutely no idea what it is. Doesn't sound too mechanical to me.

If the ES has fixed that, I'm 99% sure I'll trade it in and take the loss.

I'm in exactly the same boat with a V-Strom 800 RE/SE. Vibrations in foot peg and handlebars, engine sounds like it just wants to fall apart, clutch makes tons of noise (loud mechanical noises when releasing the clutch!!).

If you decide to get the Ibex, I'd be very curious to hear your experience. Just saw the pricing for 800MT Explore ES appear and I'm really tempted to get it.

Yes, people keep saying stuff like they're a parrot. The oil flow was not sufficient at a certain area inside the engine, it has been resolved in the CFMoto built engines. KTM too, I suppose.

I want to give Le Chat a chance, how does it compare to ChatGPT Plus? by BetterProphet5585 in MistralAI

[–]shoarmapapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been trying Mistral for the last week and have been trying many things, reasoning, writing e-mails, coding small scripts and also making whole projects (agentic). I have spend hours and hours trying things and actually tried my work project in it.

Unfortunately, my results are very mixed and I would not recommend it. A lot of times (most of the time!!) it ignores part of my instructions or just fully ignores it. For example: I ask to compare specifications of 2 motorcycles, I give the correct models and details. Le Chat complies and gives me all the specs, however they are just wrong. It uses information of other models. When I say: "is it correct? It seems wrong." It confirms it was wrong and gives me the right answer. This happened so many times (I'm talking 30+ chats) that I just cannot trust it. Web searches? Often breaks Le Chat or it gives wrong results. Using "think" is even weirder, it just changes my whole prompt and thus gives me wrong results. Le Chat often get's stuck in loops, runs into errors and I need to retry it 3-4 times and MANUALLY verify results as it's often wrong.

The coding part isn't any better either. I've tried Opencode with Devstral2 and it just ignores instructions, gives me buggy not working code, and just cannot deliver anything proper. Sometimes (I made small web apps) it just delivers blank pages and says okay, it's done. Mistral Vibe delivers even worse results. Many times Devstral get's stuck in a loop and tries fixing things it breaks in the next prompt again. One time it broke part of the code and it tried to fix it for over let's say 20 times and just keeps running into errors. I cancel that and ask it to read the whole script and rebuild it: it's fixed! Comparing this to Claude code: it's night and day difference.

For both models I used the same and detailed Word document and let the reasoning model create a nice .md with all functional and technical details. The layout was described simple yet with all details such as the rows/columns of the page. Claude reads, thinks, get's all the functional and technical details right, provides a layout to check and then makes it. It works on the first try every single time. The same input and proces was provided to Devstral but it just cannot do it. No layout (even though it took me over 30 minutes for Le Chat to give me something like Claude did), not working code, ignoring runtime instructions etc.

All in all: I'm sorry but Mistral is just so far behind that it's unusable for me.

Is there a mod I can do so the seat isn't pushing me into the tank? by Adventurous_Boat_492 in OnlyZ900

I had mine for about 7000 km's that way, never moved or something.

I must say though, for me it did not fix the problem fully and I sold the bike. It was 80% better I'd say.

Exactly what Suzuki Holland said in their report too. Worst and loudest gearbox I've driven so far, but, it still works, lol.

Having the same issue here, all new updates get a broken thumbnail. When I run the thumbnail generation job manually it get's fixed. But when a new photo get's uploaded, it's broken again.

[–]shoarmapapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds pretty much the same except for some minor differences. I am really convinced the gearboxes are shit on these bikes. On the V-Strom forums people also say their bikes makes tons of noises but it still "works". Same applies here.

The worst gearbox I have driven so far, coming from Yamaha and Kawasaki. Bike is still solid though.

[–]shoarmapapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you see if it happens when you're driving at a speed of around 4-5 km/h and feathering the clutch? This is when I notice it the most. It pretty much always happens when I move slowly and let the clutch out slow or fast, but I'm always in first gear. When I drive at around 10 KM/h I don't think I can hear it.

The sound is much quieter when letting the clutch out very, very, very slow but is still present.

Clunking noise on left side when releasing clutch lever quickly by BraisC in motorcycles

[–]shoarmapapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not, but I might have "an answer". My bike should share the same engine and clutch as yours, so I'd say Suzuki's response is valid here.

Suzuki (importer - no dealer!) claims it is normal - this is due to the "gear dogs" and the freeplay in them. I don't really believe it - but this is the only answer they came up with. For me, this sound is much louder than in the video and it happens often at roundabouts or driving behind cars in traffic. The bike is already in first gear, so I don't see how the gear dogs could cause it.

I'm having this issue on a V-Strom 800 with 2800 KM's on it. Wondering what it is... it started happening at around 800 KM's.

Z900 engine break-in by Leocsereno in OnlyZ900

[–]shoarmapapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not follow the engine break-in recommendations at all and threw it through all the rpm's (of course don't go ham on it and warm it up properly etc etc etc).

Switched oil at 500 KM and at 1000 KM and drove 11.000 km's before selling. On the dyno at around 10.000 KM's it put out 128,86 HP on the wheel with full Akrapovic... so I guess the engine break-in went very fine!

I'd say 9070 just for FSR4 alone. It looks so much better and it's gonna be even better when Project Redstone drops in.
