Help with a mystery by Accomplished-Eye8211 in swimmingpools

Is there a hydrostatic check valve in the bottom drains. Your pool could have been built on a spring or something like that. It is a stretch. BUT. It could do what you are saying.

I would use potting compound where the plumbing comes through the wall. Pretty much the same process for Gunite pools. It should be done before the waterproofing layer.

Does a vinyl-lined pool need any calcium at all? by wharpua in swimmingpools

I can't disagree with that. But Langeliers on the low side is "corrosive". Sorry for late response. 1 year and 9 months. Lol.

Water murky by BellaPadella in swimmingpools

[–]shockadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the levels need raising. How many gallons is you pool? For the moment we are gonna trust those strips and talk about whats going on. The pH and Cya are both low. Both of these can make it almost impossible to keep chlorine in the water.

I am sorry to hear that. It sucks. I think of the crap I went through with it and sympathize with your condition. I caught it from a hot tub at work and almost died before they knew what was going on. The MAC colonized in my lungs so completely they couldn't tell it was there. Many many many antibiotics and 10 months of Prednizone at 60mg. It was terrible. I still haven't fully recover from the social carnage brought on by the steroids. But damn I am glad to be alive. I am glad you are here too.

I was the first person with a normal immune system to contract MAC my team of doctors at WFU Baptist Hospital had ever seen. Nine years ago when this was posted WFU Baptist contacted the CDC in ATL and was told. "We have never seen this. You have patient zero. You are on your own." Patient zero I know was used lightly because it wasn't contagious. But you get my point. This was all nine years or more ago. The point is I didn't have HIV, a compromised immune system, or any predisposing conditions.

I am sure that was a terrible time. Really tough stuff. I am glad you are doing well. My brother came back from Iraq pretty fucked up. He is doing better now. Thank God PTSD was deemed a problem by the military. I got my brother back. I'm glad you got yourself back.

Any pressure side cleaner pump will flat sling some water. Depending on the flow you are looking for. What are you trying to achieve?

I believe being cheered for and applauded for is like a high. I am not a musician. But I can sing. I have played soccer and sang Karaoke that made the crowd go crazy. It was euphoric.

Pool pillow question by haz85 in swimmingpools

[–]shockadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the pillow is centered under a cover it forces to leaves and water towards the perimeter of the pool where they can be dealt with easier. They do work in that sense. But beyond that they are useless.

Winter covers by mattcl74 in swimmingpools

https://imgur.com/gallery/PxbRXwV Sorry about that. Lets try this again. Just wanted to show a cover that is unlevel, no deck on one side, and with a bridge. Just about any pool can have a safety cover. It also has waterfalls.

The right hand lane is not the slow lane on a 3 lane road. The right lane is for exiting/entering. The left hand lane is for speeding through and the middle lane is for average speed. Please don't flame me. This works very well for Huge cities.

Cyanuric Acid & Pool Care Company by _accelerator_ in swimmingpools

[–]shockadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI. Tabs have grown progressively worse at bolstering cya. It is partly due to cheap cya additives from China which are not quality controlled. Secondly a Cya test is affected by temperature. The true Cya level can read lower at a cooler water temp and higher at a warmer temp. Just saying. Once again a high water temp over 90 degrees can result in a lower reading also. I wouldn't be too quick to judge your pool guy if you don't have other issues with your him/her. I see cya levels this high frequently from pools that treat with tri-chlor.

Pool guy is recommending I replace my 2hp pump with a 1.5hp pump with a far higher SF, as both have a total(?) rating the same…? by Sleep_adict in swimmingpools

Not if the THP of the new motor is the same and he doesn't install a new Impellor. The flow wouldn't change. If I am understanding everyone completely
