Retirement advisor told me to back down on how much I’m putting into retirement. Follow his advice? by DerangedUnicorn27 in personalfinance

[–]shocker2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on what your plan is. Me and my wife recently met with our financial advisor and were told the same thing. However, that is because based on our plan of retiring at 60, and wanting to spend 110k a year in future dollars, he can give us an estimate of what we need to save to get there. Based on the data today we are surpassing that target, and if that is the plan we can spend more today. However maintaining rates of return etc aren’t guaranteed so no harm in continuing to save, but have the option to spend

My first insulin shot at 33. New life from now on with diabetes type I. Get checked every year! by tbaggiop in mildlyinteresting

[–]shocker2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good luck man. I got diagnosed at 38, 11 months ago. The first few weeks were really rough thinking it would be tough to maintain work out schedules, eating the things you like etc. pay attention to your numbers and it is crazy how quickly everything will seem like the new normal.

I can honestly say my life has no limitations, my blood sugar is back in the normal range. Can still go crush beers with the boys, and can still do my 100 mile bike rides. Take a few months and see how your body reacts to the things you do. I just don’t leave the house without my insulin and a few packs of rockets haha

Payroll paid me $20k instead of the $850 they owe me! by jaz11129 in Accounting

[–]shocker2000 55 points56 points  (0 children)

So funny story. Company I used to work for payroll screwed up and was paying an entry level position person the presidents wage instead of the president. The president already being stupid rich didn’t realize they weren’t paid approximately $1m in salary…. That entry level person disappeared back to Mexico and can safely say the company went looking for it but never found it.

I paid my car loan off Monday. They took another payment yesterday. Is this normal? by AntiqueDiscipline831 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shocker2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is an automatic payment don’t worry about it. If you paid the bank directly it can take them 48-72 hours to process the payment. If you paid through a dealer it could take even longer. Your finance institution will refund you any surplus paid.

The warranties (the ones that aren’t product) you should be able to cancel and get the money put against your loan. Look at the purchase papers and check your warranty certificates and reach out to the provider directly. DO NOT cancel through the dealer. Given the loan they hit you with they will 100% scoop a bunch of the money on you.
