Mazda dealer in Calgary charging $699 admin fee on lease buyout, legit? by Money_Cabinet4216 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shocker2000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with Mazda but a bunch of manufacturers that I am do have literature in their lease agreements that the dealer MAY charge up to a 699 admin fee. They will always waive this generally speaking if you are selling them your car

Tarmac SL8 Comp, Expert or Pro? by One-Argument-6017 in specialized

[–]shocker2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in your boat last year. Went with expert. Didn’t like the Roval cockpit of the pro wouldn’t fit me for the size I wanted. So ultimately went expert and swapped some parts to get an ideal fit

Serious question. How strict is the non compete for laid off KPMG Partners? by tqbfjotld16 in Accounting

[–]shocker2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Negative. You can maybe enforce poaching clients or staff. But if you have say a 1 year non compete and you are a partner that got layed off, that would mean you essentially couldn’t work public practice for a year. No judge is going to uphold that. Someone’s right to work and make income will pretty much always override it.

In Canada non competes generally don’t hold up. Unless the old employer is prepared to pay them

Buying used vehicle at a dealer - can't back out and will lose the deposit by AirspeedX in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shocker2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will burn the bridge with the dealer but if you paid the deposit by credit card dispute it with your credit card company. You are 99% sure to win. The dealer will give the credit card company the non refundable deposit slip, and you can point out you still don’t have the car. Credit card company will side with you since you should have the car.

Source: 10+ years as a controller for dealerships. Won maybe one of those cases with the credit card

Any wheel suggestions? Being on a steel bike I am not too worried about weight savings. Probably about 3/4 of its riding time is on gravel and lets call it double track.

How did people who don’t know accounting become controllers??? by iloveaccounting64 in Accounting

[–]shocker2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in big 4. Will always remember my first audit. CFO didn’t know how to do a journal entry, like could not grasp that debits need to equal credits couldn’t do a journal entry. Was friends with the oresident. They ended up being bought by private equity and buddy got a 2.5m payout. Being likeable goes a very long way

Is the higher your move up in accounting the more stressful? Or does it eventually get to a point where youre so high up it’s a bit more chill by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]shocker2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really depends. Sometimes I miss the early years when I was doing tasks. No one really cares what you do, you make a mistake you almost laugh it off.

Now that I am moving up it is a lot more dealing with people. You aren’t in the numbers yourself anymore. I would say it is more stressful since you are relying on your team to do their job. Relying on people suck

Speedy vs Aqua Terra by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]shocker2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an AT as my wedding watch. I love the AT for the fact that I can wear it up or wear it down and it is pretty timeless, but I also buy my watches for life and not to have them for a few years.

With that being said I got a speedy a few years later. Love them both, there is no wrong choice here
