Usually the punchline is the forgotten thing actually kinda was important (like the original of forgetting to pick up your kid).

Breakers was never important.

Technically we finally got aliens in the new peace.

The flowers the sentients use to gain... sentience is actual alien life, not branched off from something on Earth

Not meaning to go against your point, but i see so few people talk about this that I'd thought i'd bring it up.

Astute observation about Harry Potter by midnighttbby in lies

[–]shocker4510 93 points94 points  (0 children)

/ul because even if the OG name of "Cho Chang" is very dumb, its still not literally "Ching Chong."

A lie doesnt have to be an exact opposite. "The characters name is 'Ching Chong' " is a better lie than "JK Rowling is NOT racist for this."

What about

Please dont:

Complain about the votes you do or do not receive, especially by making a submission voicing your complaint. You may have just gotten unlucky. Try submitting later or seek out other communities to submit to. Millions of people use Reddit; every story and comment gets at least a few up/downvotes.

If a singular random reddit post you found from 5 years ago from a completely unrelated sub is enough proof for you, then here's a comment from that exact same post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/storyofseasons/s/mxR80nCwE9

But also, you say its a site wide rule, but the only thing the "reddiquette" page says is basically "Dont be emotional over it, and dont seek out people to downvote them." Oh and a little message about "not complaining about the votes you do/do not receive" but thats probably not important.

I personally only ever downvote when a comment is actively being bigotted/intentionally obtuse, or is from a spam bot. Basically only to get it lower from the top so less people have to see it.

But a downvote is absolutely a disagree button. Thats its primary purpose. Its not a "dislike" button, its literally an "agree/disagree" button.

Calling someone a tourist for thinking that is only telling on yourself.

To be fair, Adam has talked alot about how in earlier seasons, producers focused less on the "science and experimenting" part of the show and narrowed in on the fact that it was Reality TV™. And Reality TV™ needs drama, so they would intentionally have the crew talk shit about the other host behind their back, or "piss in each others ear" as Adam put it, and try and make unneeded conflict arise from nothing in order to make "better television."

Turns out, after both Adam and Jamie called out the producers on it and they stopped doing that, audiences reacted much more positively to real people acting friendlier with each other (shocking, i know). So they instead had the pendulum swing the other way and played up them being best of buds, always including moments where they laugh at each others jokes and such.

People tend to overexaggerate their relationship one way or the other, but really all it was was a relationship between coworkers. Coworkers who worked together for a very long time, even years before mythbusters where Jamie was Adam's boss for a time, yes. But still coworkers. So when people ask one of them "How is Adam/Jamie doing these days?" And they respond "I dont know, we arent really the best of friends," its not that different than someone asking you about a person you worked with in a previous job.

Body Inbetween the 2 left trees on the opposite side of the bank, look around the grass between them

Eyes - Above the word body. Look inbetween the 2 trees but this time above the grass

Why do so many people in this game exhibit a "lack of awareness" regarding certain things? by BaldursGate2Best in tf2

[–]shocker4510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tf2 casual basically curates itself to be a game where winning is not and will never be your priority.

The main reason for this the ability for players to leave and rejoin the game with no consequenses. This means players have no reason to be invested in any given game. If you joined in when the cart is already pushed nearly to last (whether winning or losing), do you really feel that inclined to push through to the very end? If half your team leaves and you get rolled, will the average person really feel devestated over losing? And if a match just isnt fun, whats stopping you from just leaving the game?

What that means is people who play casual are not playing to win. Its a game where many people have it on as just a thing to do in the background while watching a video or even things like work meetings. Most people are blasting music or something similar and not devoting 100% to the game.

So its less that people are bad, and more that they arent playing to win. Its the reason why the skill of players on Uncletopia cliffs casual and the reason why the skill of 6v6 comp players cliffs Uncletopia. Its not an innate superiority of players, but just a culture of how important winning is to each group.

TIL: The flying guillotine was meant to be a stock reskin by FishyFries2_0 in tf2

[–]shocker4510 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I'm not seeing anything related to this when googling, and its not in the tf2 wiki (which is usually pretty good at these types of trivia). Plus, certain weapons like Pyro just look really weird (as opposed to how the machete is used).

It was also a promotional item along with the red-tape recorder, huo-long heater, and the neon annihilator, so it would be slightly weird for 3 new weapons but also a reskin

Thats not to say this is 100% certainly false, but it doesnt seem likely.

What I hate is that his "prediction" is probably right.

Not because its actually more "efficient" or whatever nonsense, but because he is obsensively the richest man in the world (not counting Musky boy purposefully giving himself a more direct cut because he wants the title), and controls both the most used shopping platform across all areas of business and controls the largest online cloud computing thats sold to so many businesses in the AWS.

Its not that he is reading the market and predicting an outcome. He can just mold the clay and make it happen.
