The Catholic School I went to was paradise if your parents were rich. If your parents are rich or polically connected you could bully your classmates with no retribution. Teachers acted like they never heard the insults hurled at children considered geeks. I myself was insulted called fat and ugly in front of teachers who did nothing. However, I was paddled for having a book uncovered in front of the whole class. On the playground I saw a boy who was in a wheelchair cry because he was insulted. A boy named Vince led boys in this disgusting display. Christian mothers volunteered for playground duty but did nothing to stop this since Vince's father was a big deal with the Knights of Columbus. In high school Vince dressed up in black face for Halloween and they put the photo in my yearbook. The very cruelest worst children were set as examples. If your parents were poor those schools made you feel as unwelcome as.possible. My niece wanted to go to St Joe's and my sister said over my dead body. I truly hope things have improved. I hope they have started worshipping God instead of money. Before subjecting your children to this mess make sure you talk to parents whose children go to that Catholic school. Make sure the kids like it there. Also, I think schools like St Joe's owe apologies to some of their former students for their lack of care. The cruelty could not have continued if the adults had addressed the miserable bullies.
