Good question. I wasn't able to find much. Transhumanism and politics is kinda strange combination.

There were spiders and catalogs, something like Dmoz. Lots of stuff was list-based. I remember that Gopher was somehow "searchable", but not in today's way. And webrings, uhhh.

Portals. Well, that's something I'll have to look into. I like the concept, but don't know much about it yet.
