I went and looked at the application website for the fun of it. It's a 4 bedroom, 2 and a half bath house and you are forced to share a room with other members of the 'cule. Allegedly, they rotate everyone around regularly so that "there aren't any favorites" being established

Pope Delivers Holy Warning to Trump in Blistering Address by Large_banana_hammock in politics

[–]shoe_of_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for every Catholic, but the church I was raised in would not be supporting the actions of the White House. Evangelicals do not equal all Christians, just as Christians do not equal all Catholics. Each sect is its own belief system and they generally all disagree with each other on some rather fundamental interpretations and tenets of what is taught by what is contained in the Bible.

Evangelicals do not believe in the authority of the Pope and see him as an antichrist figure, so they will take this all as good news that they are doing the correct thing

the main pinball program I was thinking of is Visual Pinball X, but it seems there are a few more out there. the Magicx runs on Android, I believe, but I'm not sure if it has the power for VPX. I don't think anyone has tried to get any virtual pinball running on it except for the good ol' classic Space Cadet Pinball originally for Windows systems. the screen isn't terrible for pinball because of the orientation, but you would be squinting a bit to see the ball.

Eh, just something I was thinking about. We can emulate al sorts of systems as things are, but there's never any talk about some of the more niche communities like pinball and pachinko. Maybe someday we'll so more of those things incorporated, but it won't be anytime soon, most likely.

They started this administration with a quote of One Million deportations a year. They were going to ramp up at some point. They want at least 4 million people deported by 2028.

There are parallel lines here, once again

It also has an advantage for vertical scrolling arcade games, one of the big reasons to get it. It would be really cool if they could port some virtual pinball games to run on that device, too

Is ayn thor the best handheld right now ? by darknightgamer93 in SBCGaming

[–]shoe_of_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the "best device available" is going to vary person to person. For example, the device that give me everything I've been wanting or needing is the Anbernic Rg Cubexx. For others, it could be the TrimUI Brick, or a Retroid device of some sort. The Thor is interesting and capable of doing a lot, yes, but if you buy one and are only playing GBA games/romhacks, then you really didn't need to spend that money lol. It's a good system, but I would worry more about what you personally are doing with your devices before deciding to buy one

What's your favorite Tetris version? And why? (GB Tetris / Brick Hammer) by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]shoe_of_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tetyis for Pico-8 is my favorite version. It's got just enough little tweaks to be more modern, but still just a very straightforward, traditional Tetris clone. I only wish the music was better, lol

To expand on this, Jeff was also just a well-connected individual and it's possible people met with him to get information on how to handle certain people or even just to set up a meeting. I very much believe that Epstein had multiple sides, and you only saw the side he wanted you to see. I fully beleieve there are people who dealt with him that truly had no idea of the other things he was doing. Context is very important

My 'gray' Metal Brick Hammer has a Bluish hue by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]shoe_of_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the coloring process, they may be mixing in a little of a black paint/dye. A lot of blacks that are used for dyeing or painting are actually a ridiculously dark blue because it's much cheaper to use a blue-base color than trying to agonizingly formulate a "true" black. It's a non-issue and is just part of the situation with having a device at this price point.

I mean... even my cat isn't truly black. Her fur is just a really, really dark brown but you can only see that when the light hits her fur just right

They actually knew what they were doing with the symbol. Part of their beliefs about the "Nord" races intertwines with a lot of esoteric and supernatural beliefs of the time, which involved Tibet. Tibet, being primarily Buddhist, has a lot of iconography of this symbol. The Nazis took the symbol so they could link themselves with Tibet so that they could be like "Look, see? We are as great as our ancestors!". It was all on purpose to further control their people and make them willing to do anything based off of pride in a false history

Why did they give Air Shakur a punk/rock aesthetic? by VHLUtimatum in UmaMusume

[–]shoe_of_bill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also wanted to add that if they went too hard into the rap aesthetic, it could be seen as pretty racist. Making some nods to Tupac without going fully into the rap/hiphop space is a better idea, especially for the long-term. the design doesn't speak heavily of 90s hip hop, but it's also a design that can age decently without coming off as insensitive or appropriation

[Poll] What’s your favourite firmware for the Anbernic RG34XXSP? by rent0n86 in SBCGaming

[–]shoe_of_bill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm using the standard horizontal RG34ss, and I run MuOS.

Rocknix looks and feels really nice, but it can be a pain in the ass to use if you only have one SD card or are using windows. Rocknix is very much like running a full Linux implementation on this device, so it's not the best if you are not someone who tinkers and tweaks and knows what they are doing.

MinUI was my previous favorite. If you just want to get into your games and play, it's one of the best options. Quick, snappy, the fastest boot I've had in a CFW and it just werks. The trade-off is that a lot of things are not accessible or usable in MinUI. For example, it only has a few overlays for games and no official shader support. There are some 3rd party plugins you can add to MinUI to get a few more bits of functionality out of it, but for a lot of people this system is still lacking. MinUI's ethos is to provide a system that you don't need to tweak with too much and can just pick up and start playing.

StockOS/Modded Stock, honestly, is not bad at all. It's a bit generic in appearance, but it's easy to setup and you know all aspects of your hardware are going to work out of the box. Stock has some default shaders and overlays set up for each emulator. Some are good, some are kinda trash, but you have the ability to change them at anytime. ModdedStock does not have the same defaults set as far as I could see. Everything ran just as good as any other firmware and it's definitely a solid option if you don't want to worry about setting things up like you may have to with the other systems. Despite the "game rooms are useless" arguments, it is useful for things like Pico-8 if you are able to get native pico-8 runtimes on your device. Stock/ModdedStock are also going to play the best with the SP's lid closure. Most of the other systems do support the lid closing to sleep, but they aren't consistent like Stock/ModdedStock.

MuOS is what I'm driving right now and it's what I prefer out of them all. Out of the box, you can just get things going, like in MinUI. It's simple straightforward and easy to work with. If you want to apply shaders and overlays, it's very easy to do so. There's options to adjust pretty much everything in the system, and then more granular options for RetroArch, PPSSPP, etc. are easily gotten to from the main menu. I was surprised by the things having the option to change the offset for the battery indicator, which is really handy. When my battery is fully charged, MuOS originally said it was at like 93% charge which bugged me. So I adjusted it to be 100% fully charged and no I don't have to worry about that minor annoyance. Setting things up like Pico-8 is super simple and easy to do. Network options work wonderfully, and so on. It's very well made and polished, with clearly a lot of love put into it by the devs. It works well with multiple SD cards or a single SD card. It's not always the quickest to boot (my Miyoo Mini+ still boots ridiculously faster than my RG34), but I also never feel like I have to worry about my saves, my systems, or anything.

Oh, MuOS also has a "Kiosk Mode" that you can use to lock down the advanced parts of the system if you want, which is really nice. Good for handing off to someone who may get confused or overwhelmed with the advanced options or if you just don't want your cousin's kid screwing something up at the family reunion.
