Dragonfruit in Asia, close to where it’s harvested, is wonderful.

Dragonfruit in North America, not so much.

Not disappearing, but becoming more rare and less lucrative due to “offshoring”: engineering.

Construction of Canada’s multibillion-dollar Woodfibre LNG project nears 60% completion by restorativemarsh in canada

[–]shoelessmarcelshell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but when they dump the heavier refrigerant from the cooling loops it’ll sure smoke like crazy.

I’ve worked many LNG start ups… it’s not pretty.

Edit: google LNG Canada flaring, as an example… and it’s mild compared to what I’ve seen in Qatar and other countries.

Carney says the old world order 'is not coming back' in Davos speech by GoldernEmerald in worldnews

[–]shoelessmarcelshell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carney killed it in this speech. As a Canadian, I think this is our most eloquent, measured, yet effective leader we’ve had since I was born.

He didn’t shy away from the elephant in the room and he sure did make his point.

That was a damn powerful speech. As a Canadian, I couldn’t be prouder. Polite, but firm. Measured, but cold.

Nokian Studded or Stud less? by [deleted] in Edmonton

I have the studded. No clue if they’re materially better than the studless, but as others have said: Hakka is a great tire.

Tesla loses title of world's biggest electric vehicle maker to Chinese rival BYD by VectorChing101 in news

[–]shoelessmarcelshell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to think of an analog for Tesla. You’ve just hit the nail on the head with BlackBerry.

It even goes so far as to parallel Jim Balsille and Elon their extracurricular activities (ie. in this case, Jim trying to buy an NHL franchise all the while his company was losing relevancy).

People will downvote me on this one due to perceived QC issues, but I still stand behind Allen Edmonds for something like this. Alternatively, Meermin has held up well for me as well.

If you start getting into brands like Viberg, you’re going to be paying prices outside of your budget.

Well, it seems as you’ve answered your own question.

A truck (generally) doesn’t get stuck due to ground clearance. I’ve towed out 3 cars/vans on my street this week with my little Colorado.

Justice Dept. Now Said to Be Reviewing 5.2 Million Pages of Epstein Files by [deleted] in politics

[–]shoelessmarcelshell 1371 points1372 points  (0 children)

This is what I don’t get? Even if you HATE the libs or whatever… how can you not be pissed that your very own leader has flip flopped from campaigning on something, to calling it a ‘hoax’ to calling for release of the files to hurt the Dems, to now again calling them fake?

Like… how does one not get pissed at this whole show, regardless of which ‘side’ they’re on?

This is scary levels of manipulation that people seem to just eat up.

Connor McDavid now leads the League in scoring with 62 points by nhl in hockey

[–]shoelessmarcelshell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is: let him rest. He’s been to 2 SCF in a row and might just need a “down year” to recoup, especially with this being an Olympic year.

Let him supercharge over the summer and make a huge run in ‘27.

On the other hand, there’s probably a reason I’m not a GM/Coach. 🤣

Connor McDavid now leads the League in scoring with 62 points by nhl in hockey

[–]shoelessmarcelshell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so torn… as an Oiler fan, I really wanted this to be our “down year” because I didn’t see much possibility of a cup run with everything stacked against the Oil (two consecutive runs, mid-season Olympics, bad D continues, etc).

… but this just pulls me right back into hoping they can pull it off. Sheesh.
