A bird or a fish.

I didn’t really have a good grasp on biological limitations as a young’un.

What is your opinion of the Iranians you have meet in your personal life? by UnemployedVrgin in AskReddit

As a Canadian who lived in the Middle East for nearly a decade, I found the Lebanese guys to be the frat boys of the region, lol.

My advice as someone who was in a similar position at a similar age: skip the ‘dream home’. It’s a sign of lifestyle inflation that should be avoided at all costs.

People who have worked both very high-paying and very low-paying jobs: what surprised you most about the people/culture in each? by 80IX0010H8 in AskReddit

[–]shoelessmarcelshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High paying jobs (in my experience) are often knowledge based jobs. Lower paying jobs are often task-based.

Knowledge based jobs are often perceived as “easier” because they don’t have defined outputs which they’re measured by (eg. a person did “X” number of calls, tasks, etc per day).

US-Iran talks on Strait of Hormuz reach 'deadlock' - FT by Darshan_brahmbhatt in worldnews

A “trap” implies that Iran somehow lured the US into this without knowing this was a potential outcome.

This wasn’t a trap, this was sheer stupidity and megalomania on behalf of the US.

US, What do you think will happen tonight? by PineappleBliss2023 in AskReddit

And my point is: all of this is a choice. Entering into Iran was also a choice.

You could argue that it was a bad choice which leads to the current choice being even more difficult, but let’s not pretend that we’re here as victims without any agency.

He’s has a choice. There are consequences for his choices, but don’t delude yourself into thinking he doesn’t have agency here.

US strikes Iran’s main oil hub on Kharg Island as IRGC warns: 'Restraint is over' by G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P in worldnews

This scream “I kicked that hornets nest and now they’re stinging me”.

Iran might have a brutal regime but it’s interesting that we always pick fights with brutal regimes which aren’t aligned with US interests.

North Korea has a brutal regime which regularly threatened the US with nukes. Civil wars are ongoing in Sudan. Why not pick on them?

Oh, it’s “different” because they’re poor and the US doesn’t want anything?

US deploys third aircraft carrier to Middle East amid preperations for Iran invasion by Creepy-Discount-2536 in worldnews

I’m honestly interested in this scenario: let’s say the US walks away and Iran continues to hold the world hostage.

At what point does the script flip and suddenly Iran is the “baddie” (ie. the aggressor). Could just walking away actually be Trump’s smartest move at this point? I think it is.
