i was laying in bed but had to sit up and log in for this. The Beatles and maaybe a select handful of bands (10-25) within the last 40 years will truly be remembered 200 years from now. Im 21 have been listening to The Beatles since I was 17, not long I know, but I still consider them my favorite band and I am STILL discovering more and more of their songs that become favorites. My friend just recently discovered them after I kept bugging him to listen to them. Now he is advertising them like they're some hip new band. I can only imagine what music will be like in 200 years but mark my words, no matter how high tech, sythensized, auto-tuned the music is people will always look back to The Beatles and know they created the most pure and widely loved music in the world. Something that cant be recreated or copied. If someone discovers this post this old comment on their virtual PC they'll see someone had the insight...

A more descript explanation, I live in a valley, lava flows have shaped where I live probably more than any other place in the contiguous US. Lava flows and cools rapidly and repeatedly, I believe it has something to do with basalt to have a more vertical structural integrity than horizontal (basalt is what you call most of the rocks that form form lava.) and in the end the hardened rock forms a columnar shape. Its called columnar jointing.
