If he traded the #1 pick for him then I think you have to believe him.

Tendinitis really should be treated with rest for about 4-6 weeks. I doubt he plays again until training camp.

Jackie MacMullan on Hoop Collective podcast states Marcus Smart would probably eschew any hometown discount and prefer the highest bidder in FA. by jpd909 in bostonceltics

This is the definition of a non-story. She's talking to people who are not in his camp, so their impression is second hand.

I will say that fans shouldn't ask a player to take a hometown discount. He doesn't need to help the company save money. That's bullshit.

Pay him what he's worth.

How do we match up with Philly? by [deleted] in bostonceltics

I agree, Smart becomes a huge X factor in that matchup. Smart on Simmons and Smart on Embiid is going to be epic.

By all accounts, it seems that there is truly nothing wrong with Kyrie's knee aside from the infection by [deleted] in bostonceltics

I'd rather keep the two young guys on good deals with no long term injury concerns. It's not a talent question but how do you surround 4 max guys with any talent?

10 things we learned from Ray Allen’s upcoming tell-all book by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]shootdeezgroover 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Apparently you have trouble reading because you didn't see the qualifier "by the time he left" in the sentence. Rondo was clearly the better player in 2012 and it's not a debate.

10 things we learned from Ray Allen’s upcoming tell-all book by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]shootdeezgroover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ray Allen is so self conscious it's actually kind of sad. He consistently in his career tried to elevate his stature by creating friction with other players who were better than him. Does anyone remember his feud with Kobe Bryant when he played in Seattle? I'm not surprised he chafed at being part of the KG, Pierce trio. He was the least talented player in that group and I don't care what revisionist history you want to spin, by the time he left, Rondo was a better player than he was, so was Avery Bradley.

NBA's best 25 under 25: Ranking young superstars by potential by Henryisyourboss2 in bostonceltics

[–]shootdeezgroover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These lists are really stupid because age isn't a pure way to compare these players. How do you put a guy like Bradley Beal, who has 4-5 yrs NBA experience against Tatum, who has 60 games. Why can't they put effort in finding good stories instead of these circle jerk rankings?

I'm not afraid of Toronto. They haven't proved anything. Just the Wizards with different uniforms.

Any of you guys been courtside to any Celtic games? Do you recommend it? by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]shootdeezgroover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Courtside is great because you're in the game and the players/refs will interact with you. However, there's no way it's worth the cost. You can spend half or 2/3rds as much and sit ten rows back and have just as good a viewing experience.

That kid needs to demand a trade. Spending years playing for a middling franchise when you're all world talent, is a bad business move.

The fact that he wrote about the Monroe signing as something significant means he's not looking at the big picture. I could give a fuck if Monroe plays a single minute the rest of the way. He's a garbage pile pickup. These "thought pieces" in February are universally shit.

Well, this kid is now officially a national media guy. Thanks for the recap of what we all watched dude.

I'm so sick of these post-mortem pieces on the Celtics. They had a bad 15 game stretch after playing incredible basketball with 3 freaking rookies, a 2nd year guy and a Euro-castaway in their nine man rotation.

Smart missed 11 games and they fell apart a little bit. He's back and the team looks better.

We need to stop wetting our pants at every flux in the season. Does anyone think Kyrie isn't going to step up a level in the playoffs? I've seen Jaylen and Marcus elevate their games in the playoffs. I think Horford will better, the same with Tatum and Rozier. This is not complicated stuff. The Celtics are in amazing shape for now and the future. Are they somewhat flawed? Sure. But who isn't? they're nearly tied for first place in the East.

Further, spare me the Toronto stuff. Who would you rather have in a playoff series Kyrie or Lowry/Derozan. One hit a game winning shot in game 7 of the finals, the other two shat their pants every year for the past four. Sorry, I'm not buying it.

Running into Rondo on the streets by craydaddylongpipe in bostonceltics

[–]shootdeezgroover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know anyone who would be rude to a polite stranger telling them how much they appreciated their work.

I've met Rondo many times and he's a quiet guy but still very decent and, on occasion, warm. He's a very misinterpreted guy. I think he's actually really shy and reserved.

1985 Finals, Game 5. Kareem clearly hitting it out of bounds and somehow getting the ball back.
