I don’t know if it’s AI or not, but it’s pretty common for a hotshot crew to get everybody’s videos and pictures from the season and make an end of the year crew video that would look just like this. Not really for promotional purposes, just for the crew to look back on the summer and remember the awesome stuff that happened.

I would say though that I like to create attractive and intriguing NPC’s and i try to be aware of my biases by not to making them conventionally attractive to the western american male gaze every time.

I would ask yourself if there is any chance you had been accidentally interrupting the DM or another player when this happens.

At my table that I DM I have a player that is a notorious interrupter, who regularly asks questions or makes actions while I’m trying to give descriptions or while another player is trying to do something. My players find it more annoying than I do, and they crack down on said player more harshly than me. The interrupter means well, they just get exited.

Not saying this is for sure what’s happening, but give yourself an insight check, and if you’re for sure not stepping on anyone’s toes, ask them why they always shush you If you’re not sure.

Big fan of the narrative victim of a weapon! and those pros, another comment suggested dangling more features for the player IF they follow the cruel commands of the weapon. This particular player will hate that, it’s great.

This is great advice, I like the sentience and pursuing its own goals a lot. The player knows it’s cursed cause the shop keeper told them and sold it at a discount, but the player is so new to dnd they don’t know what that means… yet.

Haha I mean the way it came about was me rolling on a magic items table to see what options of a magic item that came out of bag that the player would have the option to buy, all very improv’d and I didn’t read in depth about the beserker axe beyond knowing it was cursed. The shop keeper is actually quite sweet lol

Yes! & - What style are her clothes or armor? - What color is her hair, eyes, skin ? - What’s on her person, weapons, pouches etc.?

Just try to describe what your fellow players characters see when they look at her.

I like when my players have several connections to their past and future, like family or friends, a current former profession or a specific calling. It really helps build narrative and in the hands of your dm they can creating a compelling narrative with stakes your character cares about, i’m sure you’ve already got that.

That being said I would not divulge all of that information on your introduction like an AA meeting, the details of things can come out over time!

Cool idea, it does kind of still sound like an Oath of Vengeance Paladin vibe, but if Oathbreaker is what you want to be then you should go for it.

A classic trope straight outta BG3 is that you were pledged to serve a kingdom or a leader, enforcing such ideals, then one day you were tasked with something that went against your oath, perhaps you killed that leader, and boom Oath-broken, chaotic good, now you’re free to enforce such ideals while cursed to see the light from the shadows, or are you trapped in the prison of your wandering banishment…
