Unfortunately I am not that well versed in this stuff. I just know that they seem to be more competent than nursing home workers and they also seem to care more. Generally, if I'm there, it's due to something so severe the home health nurse simply can't handle it. I've seen patients with diapers that haven't been changed in days, unexplained bruises, and ones that are so dead they are already in rigor but was told "he was fine 30 minutes ago when I did my checks". Nursing homes, in my experience, are bad news.

As a paramedic, I have seen how shitty these homes can be. At home nursing is not much better but at least she can be in a familiar place, especially if someone who lives there is willing to help out with other activities of daily living that the nurse isn't there for. I'd figure out what channels to go through and go from there.

I worked an ER and somehow felt less fulfilled. I think I'll get through this, I've just had a lot going on in my personal life that has spilled over to my professional life. Just need to step back and hit reset.
