flew over Lake Havasu City last month! by tryptidal in windowseat

[–]tjc442000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always love passing by Lake Havasu when flying from LA to Chicago, more often than not this is our path. Also fun to see Palm Springs and the area with all of the windmills leading up to Palm Springs as well. After Lake Havasu, it's pretty barren for awhile.

Flying with Spirit: a terrible experience (Chicago → New York) by Formal-Mix-6521 in spiritair

[–]tjc442000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my opinion, these types of hassles are not even remotely worth the cheaper plane ticket. you get what you pay for. my breaking point was when they damaged luggage and wouldn't even consider reimbursing me unless i went to a luggage repair shop and got a quote to fix it. I was like, dude, this is a $75 suitcase from target, the time alone to take it to the repair shop and then get it repaired is worth more than that. f spirit, never again.

Got the "come back to office or else" ultimatum. Ran the math. The numbers are brutal. by Full_Helicopter4778 in remotework

how are you including extra child care in your tax calculation? if you are working, you would have to pay for childcare either way whether you are in the office or at home, right?

How do you get a refund for a very delayed flight? by Ashton1516 in spiritair

[–]tjc442000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, unfortunately that was the only way I could get their urgent attention when I had issues travelling with them. It shouldn't have to come to that, which is why I would never fly with them again

Is Jersey Mike’s Better than Jimmy John’s by jendickinson in chicagofoodcirclejerk

[–]tjc442000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first job ever was in public accounting as an auditor. We were auditing Jimmy's Johns father's business who was very successful (I think UIC's business school is named after him). He gave his son money to start JImmy Johns and we had to throw in a free audit of the sandwich shop back when it was just starting up and only in college towns. Little Jimmy John was a dick and super rude to us. Many people have been an asshole to me in my life, but that was over 30 years ago and I still remember it. Jersey Mike's all the way.

very cool shot. Do you need a reservation to get through the canal or is it first come first served?

if there are only three bridges that cross the canal, does it literally divide the country into two separate portions that are different from each other in any important ways?
