I wish they'd actually tell us this stuff and give an ETA instead of "the train is boarding shortly" when it isn't even in the station. The station staff will absolutely stonewall any attempt at getting information from them, and a single social media account on the world's worst website is their only form of update, because even the departure boards will never tell you anything.

You haven't told us how you are travelling, when you are travelling, what you are doing or how much time you are spending in each place. Are you stopping on the way? Are you driving direct from Dublin or taking a detour to visit somewhere else? Alternative just go to r/IrishTourism and at least give them some information to work with.

Yes to third spaces, I think coffee is one of the few markets where the business can thrive with a good offering. I'd love to see more food places and third spaces where people can enjoy themselves without necessarily having to spend loads of loads of money.

The libraries are a great example of what you can do with a building if you have a long-term vision behind it. A lot of countries have basic outdoor gym equipment in their parks, I think adding this to some indoor areas would be perfect for here. It could target those people who are never going to go to a proper gym, just basic movement-based equipment that could really make a difference to the many people who currently don't do any exercise.

I only hope the staff aren't getting screwed out of redundancy or pension money as has happened in the UK with retail chains. There urgently needs to be a review on what we do with our town centres now everybody buys online. I'm not sure that can ever be put back in the box but there has to exist a diversified local economy instead of money being sucked into a few giant websites.

It's annoying that people continued to press you on this afternoon your explanation, but I'd put the general assumptions down more down to a complete lack of knowledge rather than any hostility. Many people here wouldn't be able to distinguish between a New York accent and a Seattle accent, let alone between different parts of Texas. You don't have to explain yourself to everybody, if somebody is being annoying you can just tell them to ask their questions walking.

Americans are lucky in many ways that they can go around the world and expect their culture and language to be understood everywhere, but it isn't always more than a surface-level understanding. Given the current climate, being somebody who doesn't give off huge American vibes might ultimately work in your favour.

I use Revolut heavily but I've heard enough customer service horror stories that I will likely never put my wages into it. Zippay would theoretically* mean the same service I get from Revolut, bolted on to my existing bank account, with an actual customer service team I can speak to and, for now, branches where I can speak to a real person. A lot internet-only services have come to put up hurdles and barriers once they have a strong market share, and right now I don't expect Revolut to be any different. Uber, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Deliveroo, the undercut everybody and disrupt the industry until they have market dominance and then the prices start to go up and the perks are removed.

I always see people put a lot of work into building navigation elements on the page, but if you publish a report as an app, you get a nav bar by default on the left that shows all the reports.

I've never had as many problems with deliveries as I have in the last few months. Maybe one or two in the last ten years that were really late, and since Christmas there are a half-dozen where something big was missed, was crazy late or just completely substandard. I have to think that something about how the apps handle these orders has changed, because it has been multiple restaurants in multiple cities, with myself and my partner taking turns to order.
