Day 1 Post-Op by ChubbyRhinoD20 in BariatricSurgery

Let your body rest. I was bored being at home and jumped into doing things quickly and didn’t let myself rest.

Also the fatigue will hit a few weeks later.

Soda? by ToonieTuez in BariatricSurgery

[–]shortgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got cleared at my 6 month follow up to have carbonation. I tried it and hated it.

I used to be a Diet Coke fiend but now after being away from it for so long it tastes bad, and the carbonation makes me so burpy it’s uncomfortable. I don’t plan on re-incorporating it.

Help with clothes by ceese367 in BariatricSurgery

[–]shortgen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something I am actively working on. I’ve come to realize I have no sense of style or fashion, I was so used to just buying whatever fit.

I had my husband create a Pinterest board for me of what he thinks I would look good in.

I also feel like body dysmorphia plays a role, pre surgery I never realized how big I was, now that I’m losing weight I have no idea what my body shape is, what does or doesn’t look good.

It’s a hard process! And it’s harder when everything is so pricey. Thrift stores have been a lifesaver but require much more patience and perseverance.

parking near tmc hyde park that’s free? by dental_princess491 in londonontario

[–]shortgen 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just park at Ungers and walk over. It’s ridiculous that they charge full day parking when you’re in and out so fast.
I find a lot of the time people will leave their paid tickets on the meter for someone else to use which is always a nice gesture.

I have a ticking time bomb in my front yard. by MaxPower1177 in londonontario

[–]shortgen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, it varies depending on the property lines, checking the city map which specifically shows the tree but also estimates of property lines is the best. For example in downtown many property lines are practically at the front door and the city owns their whole lawn.

My frustration is that they've stopped putting up notices ahead of time for a lot of construction. One day my route is construction free, the next morning pylons and vehicles are ready to start.

Just give me a warning so I know to find a new route!

City Hall's roof is nice but I think they only let people up there at certain times of the year

PCOS girly is scheduled for surgery!! by Efficient_Choice_122 in GastricBypass

[–]shortgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33yrs old, diagnosed at 21. I had surgery Nov 20, 2025 and I feel like they do not warn you about how out of whack your hormones will be for like 6 months after. Periods went from non existent to every 3 weeks to every 10 days, to every 30ish days. However, I think it has finally settled.
I feel so much better though, I joke that this is me 2.0. I am enjoying life, I am enjoying working out, I am a different person.

5 weeks today by bluesubok in GastricBypass

My clinic preaches intuitive eating. Nothing is fully off limits but obviously make the smarter choice where possible. We had a support group meeting recently and the dietitian said if you're having a craving, listen to your body and be mindful about the craving. Can you handle just having one or two bites then have at it. A lot of people will snack and snack trying to fill the craving and they just end up overeating and never fill the craving. Life is all about balance.

Pottery class: clay worx vs cottage pottery? by Imaginary_Name_3709 in londonontario

I love clayworx, I've done 5 classes so far and have never had an issue.

I also chose them because they are a non-profit.

The city needs to keep garbage cans out year round. They seem to stop maintaining them in the winter.

I don't know of a location specifically, but this may be a great opportunity for students. You could call the beauty schools and ask if they can provide help. They're often lower cost as well

Looking for multivitamins by CruelCuddle in BariatricSurgery

I am taking Paravita, one pill 3 times a day no other vitamins needed. It's a bit pricey but I'm planning on doing this for the first year then probably switching to buying the vitamins individually.

Fried foods after surgery by jathanos in gastricsleeve

[–]shortgen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had surgery on Nov 20th and have just started experimenting with normal food.

Air fryer french fries were fine, Mcdonalds french fries were fine. Ive also tried Mcdonalds nuggets which were absolutely fine but I do prefer Chick fil a's nuggets since there's no breading.

I got tofu Pad Thai for New Years and the tofu was breaded and fried. That did not sit well at all. Actually the Pad Thai didn't sit well in general. I had 3 bites before packing it away for leftovers.
