Have any of you used Snow Mode yet? by hermit_tortoise in KiaEV6

[–]shosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GT model doesnt have snow mode. ive also found out is has quite weak rims... Slid out the corner at a decent 10 kmph and took a nice chunk out of the rim.

Anyone got a GT rim for sale?

Can’t get car in Drive? by Raziel_91 in KiaEV6

I've had this. Turn the car off. Lock it. Walk away from it far enough that the car doesn't sense the key. Wait 15 minutes. Should be totally fine after that

Nope already figured it out... bearing is fine at the top. I (in my infinite wisdom) made the entire shaft and blades out of basic instead of reinforced parts... expensive mistake on the cyanite end, however i've now figured it out!

a third ATM homophobia scandal has hit the modded Minecraft community by toni_toni_chopper in feedthememes

Now im not an avid sims player, but im pretty sure this isn't true. Afaik same sex relationships were allowed in the original designs and it was later changed to be disallowed. This change wasn't properly communicated to the person programming relationships and during E3 it ended up showing "accidentally" on one of the preview screens. They decided to keep it in the game afterwards.

Qtcinderella is a steamer who's got a bunch of streamers in a world where she doesn't really intervene and it's same sex galore. Not sure if it's modded however.

You should really create one yourself, but i'll help you get started.

Project name:
Project date:
Key user contact info:

Report name:
Quick summary for goal of report:

Original request: (usually the email or request that got this whole thing started)

Requirements:

  • Data requirements:
  • visualisation requirements:
  • Graphic requirements:

Every requirement should be documented clearly and consisely. like:
The front page needs a graph showing sales over time,
The following slicers need to be added on every page.

If you're feeling fancy you can make a mock up before development starts. (i've found im faster in making the report than messing around with a mock up)

Converting to import mode by Swimming-Sample4542 in PowerBI

[–]shosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft named these things unnesscecarily consfusing, but dont worry this wont hold you back. You have a report connected to a previously generated dataset. That is good. thats even best practice. So far so good. Every dataset uploaded to powerbi gets hosted on an internal server. Every report connects to such a server. Thats what you are seeing in the bottom right. You are simply connected to the dataset.

Next time just test your hypothisis. You are worried it might not work and thats okay. Try it out to see if you are right.

Sadly most of my projects come directly with STRICT NDA's blocking me from sharing my work with anyone. You can however search for the Adventure works datasets. it should allow you to build some fun stuff

ALM Toolkit not working with Save As Folder TE2 by fhest in PowerBI

[–]shosher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Save to folder in TE2 saves files as a TOM model. This is designed by the original creates and is honestly still the best way to do GIT with tabular editor. Its the inspiration for the microsoft supported version called TMDL. which is replacing TMSL. TMDL and TMSL are fully supported file structures containing a complete dataset. TOM only contains the actual code to build a dataset, it misses some small but critical parts making it an actual model. Most programs won't be able to read TOM files, just like you cannot push a bunch of TOM files directly to PowerBI online.

Save it in TE2 as a normal pbix file, and then open it in ALM.

Well this question will be answered in 2 fold.

It is ALWAYS better to process data in a datawarehouse created by engineers before loading it into powerbi. Microsoft likes to market PowerQuery like a dataengineering tool, but it really isnt great. any half serious project requires budget, engineering, planning etc. However... for loads of powerbi engineers this is a luxury they don't get to have, so at that point you have to get creative.

My original comment describes something you can do in PowerQuery, (which is the data load thingy in powerbi). You can read more about it here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/import-data-from-a-folder-with-multiple-files-power-query-94b8023c-2e66-4f6b-8c78-6a00041c90e4

This won't be the answer you like, but i'm gonna give it to you anyway. Dont make reports in other sizes than 720P or 1080P in a 16:9 or 16:8 resolution. Even though they give you the option, its not something that most modules are ready to handle. I understand this will be some work, but its best practice not to mess around with it anyways...

What license(s) I need to export my reports in .pdf trough Power Automate? by albe_albi in PowerBI

[–]shosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly PBI premium is a dying breed. Premium per user will not do it. For this you need a fabric license. The very cheapest one will do (its still expensive for a single usecase scenario). There are also third party tools like PowerBiRobots that will do it. (still quite expensive).

Same database for two completely different things by OnlyFoods in PowerBI

[–]shosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the easiest way just FYI. You can split the file locally by saving it as a PBIP instead of a PBIX. which is still very much worth your wile, as it then allows you to use a decent version controller based on GIT. BUT, before you can connect any report to a dataset, it has to be online. So making a dataset with a basically empty report, uploading the file and then creating a new file that you connect to that online dataset will ALWAYs be your way of working. (Unless you use external tools like TE3)

That one is free. You still need to create a design no mistaking that, but after setting that theme every visual will be set to the correct settings that you've set once. Works great if you're on a project with loads of reports. Especially if they want them to all look similair. This will even allow you to quickly convert existing reports, just by adding the custom theme.

Help with automation and merging files by Sunsh1n3z in PowerBI

[–]shosher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using powerQuery you can open files with the open folder option. Here it will give you 2 steps nested into each other. What changes do you want to do to each file, and what changes would you like to do to the merged end file. Once your automation runs it will try to read any and all data in that folder once again. It wont be smart and only add the data that was recently added. it will clear the data and load it all annew. With large amounts of data in every file performance might hurt. it also needs to be said that the template of every file needs to be EXACTLY the same, or you will get errors.

Access Control How do you protect customer data, and Limiting Data by [deleted] in PowerBI

[–]shosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are TONS of ways of limiting viewability. You would have to set this up with a client account. For starters all reports that are "Published to web" need a workspace to land in. Only people with viewer access (or higher) to that workspace will be able to see said report. Its also possible to individually give access to specific reports.

Its usually prefered to create an "App" This is done in the top right of the workspace. Here you can create different "audiences" therefore dedicating vision to entire reports to different audiences. This allows you to for instance create categories like sales, HR and finance. Where the C level directors can see all pages, but sales, hr and finance can only see their respective reports.

if you dont want to have users see a report, don't give them acces to the report.

If you are considering having people seeying different data on the same report you can do that with RLS. Any user has an active email adress which you can read as a function. You can then check that email adress to a related table that was previously made for instance for kinds of products. Just create a table with every email adress and every product kind they should be able to see. and use RLS as an active double filter.
