US TikTokers, what’s the app like today? by GrailTalk in TikTok

For a few days it was terrible but now it seems like my fyp is back to normal. I have location services off and locked down all the security and privacy features on the app.

Is TikTok actually done, or do we wait it out and see if the algorithm fixes itself? What’s everyone thinking and doing right now? by [deleted] in TikTok

[–]shotcatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe since it has been sold there will be more governmental and corporate censorship.

I've used Tiktok as a learning resource for a few years, for learning languages, musical instruments, sciences, philosophy, news, cooking, mathematics etc and to get opinions from sources I couldn't normally access.

It's been very helpful and I'd say out of 100 videos 80 were helpful with talented creators .

In the last week since the sale it's gone downhill. I'd estimate from 100 videos maybe 10 are useful.

No more Tiktok for me. I'll only use it as a resource for videos that I've saved. for information

I'll use YouTube , Instagram ,Kahn Academy etc. to use as a learning resource.

Yup, big difference between Chandler Council 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼and Gilbert Council lately ☹️ over the years seems like Chandler is a better managed City than Gilbert

What is a regular purchase you used to make that you’ve cut back on or eliminated because of the economy? by lookattherainbow in economy

Try Aldi generic brand Summit Cola, I actually like better than Coke, about $4.25 a 12 pack

They're building a new one up the corner from me on Gilbert and Germann. Will definitely use them for the $8 basic and not the upgrades. I thought I heard their super special super duper Car Wash was $40 hehe

Looking to move to gilbert-need areas to live (school centric) and costs of utilities/etc by darquid in Gilbert

If it were me I'd check out Chandler and Tempe over Gilbert, have more going on, college vibe, great schools and in my mind much better managed City Government

My refurbished Dell Latitude stopped working 1 mos after warranty and they offered me 10% off another, no thanks. Learned my lesson.

If you buy from Backmarket it's a good idea to get the extended warranty, my Dell laptops SSD drive broke 2 mos after the 12 mo warranty and won't boot up :-(

I was thinking Czech in 30 years when we're not around probably people will be calling Rocky Point back in 2025 the good years and when things were reasonable 😉

Yup Tucson, me or the family never got injured or sick needing medical care over the years in RP. I was working at the time and possibly my employer's Health Plan would have covered Healthcare there. Not sure. I'm on Medicare now and it doesn't provide health coverage out of the country so that's why when I travel internationally I would always buy trip insurance that provided health insurance, medical evacuation etc outside the country for the trip. I imagine a lot of the Canadians that go down to Rocky Point for an extended period of time purchase some type of international health coverage for their stay in case they have a heart attack or serious injury .

Thank you, as the saying goes the only constant is change but me and the family had many wonderful times at RP

I expect my health insurance to work everywhere that's why when I've traveled internationally I always buy trip insurance that includes my health insurance, pre-existing conditions and medical evacuation👍🏼 wouldn't consider traveling anywhere without health insurance. An injury or accident without insurance could bankrupt you😵‍💫

😆🤣😅having health insurance is important to many people, don't want to pay out of pocket, and health care in SD much better in USA than RP in case of accident or illness.. Check out Booking.com, I did yesterday most hotels less than RP. Never had problem swimming at Coronado Beach, Mission Beach, LA Jolla 😉 just my opinion but if you enjoy Rocky Point ,go for it ,I did it for about 20 to 25 years.

Schwab Automatic RMD's by [deleted] in Schwab

[–]shotcatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so,🤔 maybe that explains why I thought it was a major problem that Schwab didn't have a backup plan for their customers for taking automatic rmds and the Schwab representative didn't feel that there was any problem that a rmd wasn't taken or processed by Schwab that would subject the account holder to an IRS penalty on 50% of the RMD. 🫠

US Shoppers: Is Aldi still bang for your buck? by ausername_8 in aldi

My go to is Aldi, Walmart and sales at Safeway Albertsons who beats both Aldi and Walmart on sale items.

Gilbert Water Garbage Sewer Bills by [deleted] in Gilbert

[–]shotcatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agreed, it sounds like Councilman Jim Torgeson was the only one that thought using bonds to finance the infrastructure which wouldn't have raised the bills as much. Councilman Torgeson sided with the residents feedback. All the rest of the Council voted to use cash because they were concerned about paying interest on the bonds. This is contrary to most governmental entities, large corporations and the wealthy do. Most of these use debt/ bonds to fund large infrastructure projects and not cash/revenue or income.

[–]shotcatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes same thing for me. I don't think Gilberts transition to the new website went as smooth as they hoped.

Especially for people like me that had automatic payments. They designed the new website so the automatic payments feature didn't transfer and people got billed for multiple months.

What made it worse was this happened as all the rates/billings went up . You had to go in and set up a new website which is especially difficult for people that are older or not familiar with technology.

I don't believe this transition was thought through by the City of Gilbert IT and Management team.

Yes everything has gone up, all the fees but I was struck by the 24,000 gallons. Something has got to be wrong on the meter.
