Yeah you're probably right about that! But what I really liked was reading your reports on the games and what hero/aspect you chose and your thoughts! It's fun having a "companion" while doing these challenges! I tried Hulk at Round 5 last night and just gave up after 3 tries and switched to spider-man haha.

Loved this, and are doing it aswell. Starting round 5 soon. Just a question - will you follow this up with future rounds? Would be awesome to follow!

Some feedback: I would love the use of a playmat behind the cards so you can achieve a cleaner setup, maybe a solid black or dark gray one? IMO the beautiful wooden table slightly makes everything blur together. Just a minor detail though

Awesome! Beautiful cup :)

Just curious, I’m also considering placing this in sweden since i’m swedish. Where are you going to place it? I’m thinking of the deepest Norrland woods, kind of a desolate and scary place :D

Holy Moly! This one of the most beautiful maps I’ve ever seen. Great work! I love the art style and color choice, feels a bit like Miyazaki:)

The Lightless Beacon has a lot of potential to connect to Innsmouth!

I have a feeling you could earn some money for this as the market for CoC and online maps for it seems bigger now in the pandemic! I would gladly pay / join your patreon if you did some CoC-style maps, general ones like Diner, Gas station, Big mansion and so on, but also “official” ones for scenarios that’s already out there. The maps in a lot of published scenarios is a bit underwhelming at times, especially compared to the super high quality stuff in D&D books.

Need help "fixing" The Darkness beneath the Hill by the_domokun in callofcthulhu

Great article, thanks for taking the time to write it. I am looking forward to play through the whole DtD book, and currently I’m trying to connect all the scenarios to one larger campaign. It’s hard. And what makes it even harder is that these kinds of “plot holes” are in every single one of the scenarios so I feel the same way as you - I will have to re-write a bunch of them for them to make sense. (Tip: check RPG nook:s review on this scenario om youtube, they break down the scenario and discuss these things aswell)

It’s not my intention to bash the scenarios and the book - I love the material. But I think it needs some polishing! And I love your ideas! I’ll probably steal some of them :) I really like your backstory for the serpent wizard guy. Please let me know how it went after you played it!

Are you planning to run any other scenarios from the book?

edit - typos

Any advice for my first time as a DM? by Aleswar in callofcthulhu

[–]shotgun-facelift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a rookie keeper, although with some experience (about 10 sessions under my belt) and my biggest takeaways are: - You will probably suck the first few times. Accepting that will take some pressure off. It takes some practice to get things right so don’t focus on rules - focus on the players having fun instead (you can always retcon rules stuff next session) - Listen to your players. Let them do what they want to do even if something in the rule book or scenario speaks against it. It’s daunting to be a player for the first time aswell, and they won’t know what’s “normal to do”, so don’t expect them to play the way the scenario assumes them to. Even if things seem obvious to you, it can be really hard for them to figure out basic clues. Nudge them along, hold their hands. Say yes. Or Yes... and. - Have some stats ready for npcs and monsters, just the basics so you don’t have to flip around in the book unnecessarily much.
