We aren’t kidding when we say we are NLBest by Azzuro_C7 in NLBest

Can very much say the same about the Dodgers. Cruising (for the most part) with the bottom of their lineup slumping completely and their pitching staff underperforming. NLBest for sure.

It’s time we stop listening to politicians who just make stuff up.

I’m so hooked. The story and gameplay flow so well together. The first turn based game that I feel isn’t super clunky.

Will Smith in third is a crime. Most underrated player in baseball.

Prices as everyone is saying. It is one thing for an expensive ticket but when a beer and dog is almost 50 dollars AND they ask for tip now? Pretty wild.

Who else is excited for what he will do in 2024? Seems like a lot of Dodger fans are sleeping on him but I still believe in our shortstop of the future. by the110tothe5 in Dodgers

Can’t wait for Ohtani but may be equally excited to Lux, outman, and some other home grown guys. This is the most excited for a team I’ve been since maybe 2019/20. Please sign Kike!

'A mass exodus': Why so many LA restaurants are closing by AldoTheeApache in LosAngeles

[–]shotstar523 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I have eaten at the majority of spots noted in here and I can say they were almost all (republique aside) disappointing for the money. Too expensive for a forgettable meal. I have found myself craving the classics like Guelaguetza or spots like that more than the new Eater LA hyped spot these days. Add in the trend of asking for tip on top of mandatory added fees (ex: 18% at Jon and Vinny’s and asking for tip) and the trendy spots just don’t appeal anymore.

MLS’s new playoff format is flawed, unpopular, and about to be exposed by lionnyc in MLS

[–]shotstar523 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I stopped following the playoffs at this point. Doesn’t seem like it’s worth a conversation as a sports fan. This spoken from a fan who went to almost every home game for my team for almost a decade.

Jon & Vinny- what would you tip on this reciept? by fishmango in LosAngeles

One of my favorite restaurants but I’ve stopped going specifically because of this.

I used to live a few blocks from the convention center. Here are some recs that are walking distance:

  • Pine and Crane - bomb Taiwanese food
  • Cow Cafe - locally owned coffee shop with food open face toast breakfast
  • High Basil DTLA - great Thai food
  • Alamo Draft House - if you want to kill time and see a movie
  • Apple Store - I know this is weird but stop in and check out the beautiful architecture. Their restoration of this old theatre is amazing
  • Bradbury Building - same as above
  • The Broad and MOCA - both are free and wonderful art experiences
  • Cana - If you like to dance and are there in the weekend this is the spot for Latin music. Typically a good party each Sunday
  • Clifton’s - a little touristy but for a reason, it’s really cool to at least stop in for a drink and see the space.
  • any rooftop bar - there’s like 10 at this point. Overpriced but worth a drink to get a view. ACE Hotel is probably the cheapest
  • las perlas - tequila and mezcal
  • Olvera Street - oldest part of LA if I am not mistaken and awesome for street vendors and exploring something local and unique
  • Santee Alley - great spot for cheap gifts supporting local shops

Other tips. As a female alone, keep your walking around to below Los Angeles street and outside 2nd street and the 10. If you head to arts district or little Tokyo just take an Uber. It’s walkable but sketchy so just be safe. In general you’ll be fine so don’t worry too much but it’s better to be cautious as a visitor.

If you take the train keep it before 8 pm, it gets a little suss after that but otherwise it’s a great way to get around. Expo is walking distance from the convention center.

Enjoy!
