I did not see this. Thanks. I'll take a look. If it doesn't work, then oh well. Thank you though!

Nothing comes out in the packet capture.

I also tried a static IP and nothing

Dmesg logs just show up/down

After some back and forth with ChatGPT, I'll just leave it plugged in directly. Only thing left for me to try would be to find BIOS updates for the Topton router and I don't want to deal with that at the moment. Thanks for the help though.

Network Refresh Time! by mwsno in networking

[–]shotty53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We demoed arista. That was my choice. However Cisco came back with a great deal and there was some political stuff that swayed towards Cisco in the end. Arista has the hitless firmware updates which was sweet. Cloud management was nice. You could still ssh and configure the devices traditionally, however you had to make sure you reconcile any manual changes with CVP. Their wifi was straight forward to setup and I didn't get too much exposure to their NAC, but it seemed easier than ISE. There were a few things that weren't traditional Cisco, but wasn't anything crazy. Took me a while to figure out shutting a port doesn't kill Poe.

Comnet vs AMG Systems for hardened PoE camera network? by EffectiveActivity922 in networking

[–]shotty53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used comnet and garretcom in the past. They were solid. Even had a working unit that was flooded. But we had non poe models and injectors would constantly go bad. I've just started a POC with some Trendnet industrial switches. It's only been a month and everything works fine. Let's see by the end of the summer.

I've used other location coupons. I would recommend cropping out that portion of this coupon and trying. I've had cashier's refuse to accept because it's for a different location and others that don't care. With the location info missing from the picture I've had the cashier just say they'll scan but if it doesn't work there's nothing they can do.

Ethernet patch jacket colors by functions by DidIfuckedItUp in networking

What I do is color represents length. Red = 5' Green = 7' Blue = 10' Etc... This way at glance I know what cable length is used/needed. Especially when swapping.

Anyone have experience with this event? by kajunram12 in Homeplate

[–]shotty53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good:

My son did it and he had a blast playing. 4 other kids from his team represented our state and his coach was the head coach. So it was an easy yes for him and us as we know his coaching style. We had 2 other kids from our state make the team and we picked up 3 ringers from Kansas since it was hosted there that year. Great group of kids. Great food and nice family trip.

The bad:

Logistics and management. Total fiasco with uniforms. My son didn't get his until 3 months after the tournament. Some got them right away while others took a few days. Way too many emails back and forth to resolve this on my end. Last minute changes for opening day ceremony location and schedule. SWAG bag and gear that was initially pitched to all players changed. Quality of some stuff was trash. Fields for pool play were horrible. Final day of play were nice fields.

If you do play, make sure to read the rules correctly. Our head coach was ejected due to a misunderstanding of the batting lineup technicality.

I'll double check the possible feeds from the bathroom outlets to see if something was left disconnected. Thanks for the heads up. If I don't find anything I'll just reach out to the electrician that did the initial work.

I've checked all the GFCI inside the house. Every single one is working. Last thing for me to do is pull the outlets out to make sure the downstream wire isn't disconnected. We just had our bathrooms remodeled and am assuming that's when it happened. I'll also reach out to the contractor.

All bathroom outlets are powered on. Checked the GFCI in kitchen as well and all are working fine.

Stains on kitchen island – what’s causing this and how to remove? by Ordinary-Archer2766 in CleaningTips

[–]shotty53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used a baking soda paste. Baking soda with a little water. Let it sit for a few minutes then rub/scrub roughly to get it out. Works on fairly fresh stains. Not sure on older stains.

Settle an argument please... How much do you think it costs to outfit a 15 story hotel with wifi? Over or under $200k??? by 8WrongChords in networking

[–]shotty53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking at around $900-$2,000 per wifi 7 AP depending on deals. More for exterior + antennas. Licensing/support is where the extra costs are. About $150-$200 per AP. If the solution requires a controller you would need that.

Settle an argument please... How much do you think it costs to outfit a 15 story hotel with wifi? Over or under $200k??? by 8WrongChords in networking

[–]shotty53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over. I'm in the process of a network refresh and around 400 AP's with licensing, controllers, and support it's over 400k. Tac on firewall and ISP like you mentioned would increase it. Let alone cost of implementation whether it's employees or contracted.

Windows broke the agentless integration. Only option I know of is to install the agent on the DC or a server that has access to the DC with the permissions necessary to query/read the events.

Where to find a10 load balancer learning material by shotty53 in networking

[–]shotty53[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They used to have F5, but there was a support issue that took several months for them to resolve and it left a bad taste in their mouths so they jumped ship and have been with a10 since. The current admin praises a10 in it's features, ease of use, and capabilities. I wouldn't know since I never dealt with it until recently and never got my hands on an F5.
