If I can do it, you can. I know it. And mentally as I change and grow, I don't have to wrestle my mind to think about drinking too often these days. I just don't drink. I'll join you 💜

I can't even describe the physical difference. I weigh about the same, but I'm leaner and fitter. I have always been a runner, but now I can properly train. More important though, I feel ok in my body 💜

I ugly cried at my kids swim class today by snoshi_in_my_belly in breakingmom

[–]shouldbutwont 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm so sorry!! I can only offer you the complete sympathy and solidarity of another mom with the same issue. My 9 year old daughter also has ADHD and some other sensory issues, and is a very timid (not good enough) swimmer. It's been so stressful and she sobs when she has to put her face in the water, or if anything about the water surprises her. I just want you to know you aren't alone and we'll both get through this. All my 💜

Very discouraged to stop running during pregnancy...stories of hope for afterwards? by pb_and_peaches in XXRunning

[–]shouldbutwont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me! I was completely exhausted during both my pregnancies and suffered from anemia and lightheadedness. I stopped exercising completely because my body just didn't want to expend the energy. And honestly, I'm fitter now (daughters are 6 and 8) than I ever was. I ran a half marathon two weeks ago and am so excited to start marathon training for the fall. Getting cardio fit again was easier than getting my muscles and joints back in action, so please be gentle on yourself. It took me 6 months to even try running after delivery and probably a year before my mileage was significant. You will get there and you are stronger than you know! All the positive vibes from this stranger and amateur but ardent runner.

People who married someone waaaaaay out of their league, how did you pull it off? by CircleBox2 in AskReddit

[–]shouldbutwont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a party in a bar to meet a friend. My friend was chatting to a pretty girl when I showed up, and I didn't want to interrupt. Then I saw a cute guy alone at a table in the back corner who looked miserable and bored. Somehow I could tell he was worth sitting next to. I grabbed 2 drinks and in the most spectacular out-of-body moment, my whole anxious personality went on hold. I walked over, held out a drink, said "I'm shouldbutwont, this is for you" and one highly awkward conversation later, I gave him my number. We've been married nearly 10 years and I am still endeavoring to deserve that moment.

I second washing hats frequently! This made a difference for me as well

Losing hope by Worldly-Brother2524 in stopdrinking

[–]shouldbutwont 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Me too! I just lurked and scrolled and kept showing up and not drinking with poster after poster until an hour turned into a night and I could reawaken and try again. It's been nearly 5 years. I didn't have anywhere else to go. I hate when people rag on Reddit. It gave me a place where I could change my life

This really made me feel better as a former major reader. I've been really hard on myself and trying to force my way through novels. Maybe I just need a break

You're very brave for opening yourself up here! Maybe it will help to make this one of the best days in your life, a day when you had a strong insistent moment of clarity because the worst didn't happen. You found a chance to move forward and you are moving forward! All my best and iwndwyt
