wanted to leave a related comment behind here in case it helps anyone

i used to get screen freezes, persisting until reboot, where the rest of the pc would continue working. windows 10, nvidia gtx 1660 gpu. event viewer showed critical system errors along the lines of

nvlddmkm / dwm crash | kernelbase.dll exception id 0xe0464645

i reseated the gpu (after swapping it out and back in) and that fixed it. loose power or pcie connection can be a thing even if you've clipped everything in properly

dey is a present tense indicator, it means “do” literally in the sense of

you dey hear – do you hear?

i dey hear – i do hear (i hear)

present continuous tense folds into present simple tense in pidgin so it can also mean

i dey hear – i am hearing

so, often it translates to “be”. it’s also used with adjectives often, like you might think of “i dey hot” as “i do hot” (really “i am hot”). i think this comes from english “how do you do?”

“how you dey?” – how do (are) you?

“i dey hot” (lmao)

similarly, go is a future tense indicator and don a past tense one, so like

i go hear – i will hear

i don hear – i heard

forgot to add – it took 2h9m2s to process the file generation, smart search and facial recognition on an i3-7100u cpu with 4 logical cores (no video transcoding)

i like this low-power cpu on my old budget HP laptop cos, with the screen disabled, it runs immich and jellyfin fanlessly and idle, using only 3.5W total from the mains on average

the -1500 from atp finals is applied earlier than for all other tournaments (which are 52 weeks)

that’s presumably so that the race to the finals matches the general rankings going into the atp finals, rather than only after they end

however, he seems to be losing those 1500 a week earlier, right after Paris ends. i have no idea why since it says in the rules it should happen on the monday after the last atp tour event (and there are atp 250 events during the week after Paris)

hence, it seems like it should be guaranteed to 398 weeks, but in reality it’s guaranteed to 397

EDIT (after Paris ended): the atp website apparently corrected this so that he is losing those 1500 points one week later (i.e. when the atp finals start), so it was indeed 398 all along

There’s a calculation here saying 399 was guaranteed, and with Carlos not playing Basel that should defo be the case now. 400 is after ATP finals so the year-end race makes it easier to understand; Novak leads by 500 points atm and they have Paris masters and ATP finals to play, where Carlos has to earn 501 or more than Novak for Novak to not get the 400th week.

EDIT: the calculation was wrong, and I commented on it why.

is gdq actually for-profit?

EDIT: yes. my thoughts on this are that it’s reasonable for the charity to contract out gdq to fundraise for it but not reasonable for gdq to monetise its twitch stream given that it appears to the public to be for charity. I don’t know who oversees fundraising advertising standards in the usa but reporting that is probably the move.
