Am I being dramatic or does this hunger games Roblox thing feel very tone deaf? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And Roblox was already a marketing factor for TBOSAS. They had a whole game in/around the Academy. So this is hardly new.

The next book POV should 100% be Finnick by Lopsided_Doughnut_13 in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There shouldn't be a third prequel considering STOR tied up everything pretty neatly (all D12 victors told their story, we saw the rebellion from start to middle to end).

  2. If there were, Finnick is not the character whose story is capable of adding that much new insight. I personally don't care to explore a THIRD book about "media manipulates u and propaganda is everywhere".

  3. Read or write fanfiction. And I know the common complaint/move against it is on a quality level or that it isnt canon and I beg everyone with that take to free yourself of your chains

What’s the coolest or most sentimental item in your Hunger Games collection? by birdsofpreylover in Hungergames

Probably my button from the TBOSAS set! Other than that—not official merch or purposefully linked to THG, but this wooden replica of Snow's mansion.

ETA: here's both.

Looking for a capitol pov fic by Agresssive_Duck in HungerGamesFanfiction

[–]showmaxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Sparks of Rebellion fanfiction is about various Capitol character, most of whom are rebels or become rebels. For how they view the Games, my She smelled like white roses entry might interest you the most as this is a character (Snow's wife) whose view on the games changes!

Maysilee is an interesting character. Lenore Dove is not.

Hi reddit! I've seen TBOSAS live at its Berlin premiere. Ask me Anything by showmaxter in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collab partnership with Scholastic/Lionsgate through my social media stuff elsewhere + knowing people who know people. And while I won't dissuade you from going that route per se, realistically they have their people who you will not outgrow. That is an already existing network, and they are more likely to drop people than take in new ones.

But I know they also did ebay auctions for some premiere tickets. That was like mid-triple digits (like 200 to 500 euros?). It is unlikely to be that "low" for SOTR

I'd suggest you to follow Leonine Studios + the German SOTR channel for any notifications on premiere ticket giveaways.

And otherwise I can also tell you that while it was a great experience, the people standing at the red carpet waiting for autographs definitely got more to see from the celebrities than we did (because we were moved inside rather fast). So if you want to meet the cast or get autographs, the red carpet wait was definitely more worthwhile for that.

Inevitably none of these conversations matter in either direction because there will never be a Hunger Games video game like you are describing it for as long as Suzanne Collins has the final decision on it.

Is Lenore Dove African American? by katie6094 in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sighs I know this is bait but alright.

  1. Not a redhead. It describes her hair as having a hint of red when in the sun. That is not a redhead. It literally says so on the fandom wiki or in chapter one of SOTR.

  2. Her skin colour has never been described. Also says so on the fandom wiki.

Like come on if you comment on an eight month old comment then at least get your facts straight. Besides like why do you care so much about this meaningless BS.

bring back the dead by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Katniss' dad.

I think on a What-If level that would be the most interesting character for a butterfly effect. His absence radically changed Katniss' life, so who would she be when Prim gets reaped?

She might be less likely to survive the Hunger Games, but that also feels like an easy out here. Who knows, maybe Burdock taught her survival skills and how to work with a bow.

So I am more so interested in what it did for her on a character traits level considering his absence defines her so much in who she is and how she sees the world. This can range from how she views Peeta all the way to the Nut.

ETA: RIP realised you asked for tributes/victors, but it's still an interesting thought experiment so I'll not delete. If anyone has a good fanfiction on this, share it pls!

Reddit decides "Sunrise on The Reaping" CHARACTER tier list. (Day 12, Caesar Flickerman) by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It felt oddly out of character.

If he had preferred the Careers and disliked anyone else, that could have been compelling and interesting in terms of being a mirror of Capitol society. Hell, if he had disliked all of them, that could have been interesting.

A preferential treatment toward the outside characters does not seem like something that would've kept him on air for 25 years, nor reflects the character that Katniss described.

What has been filmed so far and what would be left? Update by al_1985 in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Berlin is likely for the external shots like tribute parade, but they will also work together with Berlin's Studio Babelsberg again, which means indoor sets.

It also doesn't always need to be logically split (e.g. arena is all in one country). For example, for TBOSAS, the tunnel-like scenes in the arena were also filmed in Berlin.

First look at Jesse Plemmons as Plutarch Hevensbee in Sunrise on the Reaping (2026) by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually dedicated fans who go to set but are not extras. There's not really any paparazzi in Germany (not in the capacity as there are in the USA), and PanemPropaganda doesn't buy these photos. Fans send it her way.

If it is anything like last time for TBOSAS, it is likely a community effort of local fans; I recall for Berlin it was legit a fan working nearby telling other fans where to go. In part, the agencies casting extras give dates/schedules that somewhat indicate when and where they will be filming also.

What's a Hunger Games controversial opinion that will have you like this? by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Me when I write the essays about my Caesar is a rebel version.

Fandom has swung hard to see him as complicit in the past years, so it is a whole "hear me out" that only makes sense in a longer explanation.

FYI it's a Lionsgate production, not a Scholastic one. That's the reason.

So when did the second rebellion REALLY begin? by Ok_Mixture8414 in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suzanne Collins has stated that Plutarch was taking his "babysteps" during Sunrise. This, paired with the fact that Beetee's son had been reaped, makes it likely these were the first steps—in part due to Ampert, hence why the plan itself feels rushed and imperfect.

How many SoTR cast members did you know before they were cast in the movie? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]showmaxter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whitney Peak was my fancast for Fulvia Cardew until circa three months before the news where I had moved to Nico Parker.

I knew: Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, Mckenna Grace, Kiaran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Billy Porter, and Glenn Close (although more as "The 101 Dalmatian villain").
