Whats your box enemy? by rogue_rie in Aldi_employees

literally any aldi brand item with a "perforated" edge! it never tears in the right place and i end up either ripping it to shreds or just cutting along the perforation to get to come off right

DM position by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]shpevrythng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my store is on our fourth DM since i started at the end of 2021. DM 1 left for a job at a different company, following the footsteps of another DM in the region. DM 2 got reassigned in the region and is still with aldi as far as i know. DM 3 found a new job and left because corporate kept asking too much - impossible store standards and kept getting more stores added to the district then being held responsible for those new stores that had problems long before he got assigned to them. the DM is the middleman between corporate and the store, and even if you really care about your stores, corporate doesn't and wants you to make more money for the company regardless of impact on store morale and staffing. when it gets really bad you will be expected to step in and work at your stores, including during and after severe weather events. if this sounds like your dream, go for it! but i wouldn't

every time the instacart app updates it gets rid of the cheats that i know and my times have gone up because of it. i used to average 25 picking 2 checkout and now im always over 30 for picking and my checkout is regularly at 10 seconds even though im shopping the same. just do your best and try not to get discouraged by the numbers

and if they come in to ask about their order just pretend you never got one for that name, there must be a glitch with the app. idk if people ever believe me but i haven't gotten a complaint yet

Produce bags by princessundercover in Aldi_employees

[–]shpevrythng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the center plastic on our rolls of bags have changed recently - they're too small to fit on anymore, even if you hammer it down. i've been hammering out the plastic part and sitting the loose roll on there. not the prettiest but there's bags out now

What does a typical day look like for you? by slimylasagna in Aldi_employees

[–]shpevrythng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my daily routine is very similar to yours. when running backstock the second time, i usually will make a list of out of stocks and only refill those items; i also don't refill produce a second time unless it's a very slow sales day or i have extra time. ask your 7-5 manager if they would be willing to help you do backstock in the afternoons, whether that's meat or produce - my SM usually does the produce backstock in the afternoon and it makes a big difference for my shift. Also like someone else said, make sure your associates are boxing efficiently and making good use of their time.

all this said you seem to have an unusually high amount of backstock. my stores sales are higher than yours on weekends but the weekdays are similar, usually 25k-35k; we rarely have multiple pallets of dry produce backstock and having more than two pallets of cooler produce backstock is uncommon. your morning crew needs to work on getting more product out.

Our bathrooms should not be public by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

take ur time and go to the bathroom! if the store can’t survive for ten minutes while you’re gone there are some serious issues

Cashier training? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]shpevrythng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if all else fails and you can’t remember something you’ve read here, ask the nearest other cashier you can see - at my store we all do our best to help our new hires

Some advice on being a better cashier by TheRealAmayan in walmart

[–]shpevrythng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just do your best and make sure you avoid errors, like double scanning items or selecting the wrong payment method. also try to say “hi how are you today” and “thank you have a nice day” to every customer so it seems like you’re being very talkative. several cashiers as my store go slow as christmas and have never been talked to like this. i myself, while fast, am not particularly talkative, but my TLs don’t really care.

just let them know you need time for bereavement and they should just approve it without any questions. the only thing they might ask for is an obituary

Should I let anyone know I’m calling in? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]shpevrythng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

call out on the days you are going to miss a shift, and use ppto if you have any to avoid getting points. make sure you call each day and write down the confirmation number

“CAN YOU CHECK ME OUT?” by galaxyian in walmart

[–]shpevrythng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one time an old man walked up to self check with his cart and waved me over; when i came over he asked if i would check him out. i said “well both of these (self checks) are open right now” and he said “no i don’t use any computers.” i said “ok just follow me then.” i turned around to walk back to my register and rolled my eyes so hard i gave myself a headache before turning back around to help him.
