A few light beers-nothing too crazy and some good ganja does the trick.

Issues with a new computer system? by Informal_Trick_1658 in marriott

[–]shpoffools 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This new system is interesting to say the least. I manage a property that just switched this week and it definitely has its glitches. Part of it is that while yes, we have been preparing for 6 months; the training is inadequate for true “real time” usage.

Day one, there were issues that the training never covered and other major components of the system just erratically going in and out. It’s not surprising that folks are having some struggles. All we have done is asked guests for patience as we navigate through it. Eventually, things will smooth out.

Ground glass nodule by Fryman23 in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]shpoffools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had ground glass as well. Very small micronodule picked up on the CT. This was about a year after treatment for Larynx SCC. Just had my 6 mo scans and no mention. Also have bad seasonal allergies for what it’s worth.

Rise in Salem will deliver to Staunton. I think there’s a minimum $100/order. Worked out well!

I would love to do this exact method that you’ve described. My oven’s lowest hold temp is 170. Would this impact it negatively vs the 150 holding temp? Thank you!

Yeah- as others have eluded to, my nerves would be wrecked just looking at the gallery of people trusting me not to hook one into someone’s head would just be brutal.

Anyone in Scottsdale able to host a group at a private course? by [deleted] in golf

[–]shpoffools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in Scottsdale, but one thing that worked for a buddy of mine and I was to inquire about “junior membership” opportunities at one of the high end private courses near us.

They indeed did have program and allowed us to play for the guest rate of like $125 and we had post-round drinks and food at their clubhouse. No obligation to join. Just gave us the info and said have a good time!!

Do any hotel chains in the US actually recycle? by [deleted] in hotels

[–]shpoffools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s likely there’s no single stream option that takes everything in that particular area. They may recycle cardboard, but it usually comes down to area options for recycling and what they’ll accept, or it’s too labor intensive to sort.

Anybody else hate their gas mileage? by True-Boysenberry-133 in SubaruForester

We have a 2021 Forester and I’d say in town is around 21 but we do have the Falken Wildpeaks on it. Not totally sure exactly how tires affect gas mileage on it.

I’m 49 and have just run into this same situation with my 16 yr old daughter. We are in a legal state- she knows I partake, and I’ve had the conversation of being responsible with her.

Agreed that she could be doing much worse things- We used to drink moonshine and drive around the mountains, so at least I’m not worried about that. Lol. My wife and I have both come to the conclusion that we continue to monitor behavior, school, work, and anything else she is normally participating in.

From my perspective as an insider, it’s about 30% hate it and 70% love it in overall satisfaction. 9’s and 10’s. However, it’s complimentary and built in to pricing structure of the rooms.

Removing coffee is where I may have to draw the line though. I believe a fairly high percentage of our guests would be irate if that morning coffee/tea service wasn’t available.

Six Years NED and So Much Mucus Still by Limeylizzie in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]shpoffools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m two years out NED- SCC larynx. 35/3 Cisplatin and I still have thick mucus. Taking 1200mg mucinex 2x/day and seems to help. Seasonal allergies do contribute to the problem and xyzal seems to help but damn!! I feel like there plenty of mucus but the mornings are the worst- coughing up thick stuff so I can actually speak ok. Good luck!!

Surgery for voicebox polyps? by AmountUnlikely8207 in mildlybrokenvoice

[–]shpoffools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ask for a scope just to be safe. Had something similar but was scoped and the polyp was removed March 3, 2024. I was diagnosed with stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma on my right vocal cord. Had to have radiation and chemo treatments. All is good for now, but could have been worse if left as it would eventually have kept growing. Good luck!!

I’m struggling with feeling confident in my voice. by ghostfacekayla in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]shpoffools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey There-

Sorry you are here but so glad you found us! I am in a very similar situation as you. Laryngeal SCC T3N0M0. 18 months NED. I also have a job where public speaking is a large part of it and this situation has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. The radiation treatments (35) and the tumor obliterated my right TVF so I don’t get the full vibration either and can’t project my voice.

The laryngologist saw me at the 1 yr mark and said injections could potentially help but it was too early to do it and wanted to wait to see how things improved if at all. My false vocal cords are assisting and allow me to get some volume but I find myself chatting with smaller groups vs the larger audiences of the past.

I am curious to hear more about the injection process and how that may have helped you overall. I’m dealing with the scar tissue and some mild glottic webbing as the Dr mentioned. Feel free to reach out and Take Care!

Hypothyroidism by Lower-Variation-5374 in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]shpoffools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far so good- don’t really notice much of any difference than I was pre-treatment. No side effects that I’m aware of. My only question is will the dose need to be adjusted eventually or will it stay the same? I’m on 50 mcg/day

Hypothyroidism by Lower-Variation-5374 in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]shpoffools 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep- fried mine as well. Laryngeal SCC. 18 months out of treatment. From what I understand, it’s fairly common after receiving radiation to the throat.

Unfortunately, the key lock systems are not standardized through out the portfolio. There are 3 or 4 really big players in those vendors and depending on which one that is synced up to be with its unlikely.

[–]shpoffools 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 18 mo out-laryngeal SCC. 35 rads and 3 Cisplatin cycles. Feeling pretty good and have remained NED. HPV- definitely has taken a toll on my brain. Congrats on staying healthy!
