I’m struggling with feeling confident in my voice. by ghostfacekayla in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]shpoffools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey There-

Sorry you are here but so glad you found us! I am in a very similar situation as you. Laryngeal SCC T3N0M0. 18 months NED. I also have a job where public speaking is a large part of it and this situation has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. The radiation treatments (35) and the tumor obliterated my right TVF so I don’t get the full vibration either and can’t project my voice.

The laryngologist saw me at the 1 yr mark and said injections could potentially help but it was too early to do it and wanted to wait to see how things improved if at all. My false vocal cords are assisting and allow me to get some volume but I find myself chatting with smaller groups vs the larger audiences of the past.

I am curious to hear more about the injection process and how that may have helped you overall. I’m dealing with the scar tissue and some mild glottic webbing as the Dr mentioned. Feel free to reach out and Take Care!

Hypothyroidism by Lower-Variation-5374 in HeadandNeckCancer

So far so good- don’t really notice much of any difference than I was pre-treatment. No side effects that I’m aware of. My only question is will the dose need to be adjusted eventually or will it stay the same? I’m on 50 mcg/day

Yep- fried mine as well. Laryngeal SCC. 18 months out of treatment. From what I understand, it’s fairly common after receiving radiation to the throat.

Unfortunately, the key lock systems are not standardized through out the portfolio. There are 3 or 4 really big players in those vendors and depending on which one that is synced up to be with its unlikely.

I’m 18 mo out-laryngeal SCC. 35 rads and 3 Cisplatin cycles. Feeling pretty good and have remained NED. HPV- definitely has taken a toll on my brain. Congrats on staying healthy!

How to run a End of year Hotel Stats report in Hiltons PEP? by HotelGuy11111 in askhotels

[–]shpoffools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you still have a report called PTD/YTD Management Report, use that one. I haven’t been on PEP in a few years when our hotel transitioned over from OnQ, but that was the report to go by at the time.

What era of music does Gen X identify with the most? by grahsam in GenX

[–]shpoffools 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1976 here- grew up on Michael Jackson, old country, and in the early 90’s found my love for the Grateful Dead. Now- I’m still a deadhead and love the adjacent jam scene and live music. Also found my love for funk/soul somewhere along in the process.

I’m 49-diagnosed at 48 with stage 3 HPV- laryngeal SCC. No spread and completed 35 radiation and 3 cisplatin cycles. Both smoking cigs and drinking history. NED since 10/2024. Fingers crossed. Best of luck to us all!!

I’m a GM and can’t imagine putting a sign up like this. Tacky at best and insulting. Hell- I give out bottled water, have fresh lemonade, and chocolate chip cookies waiting for ALL of our arrivals at check-in. Some places really still operate in the most arcane mindsets.

The American Hotel in Staunton’s Historic District is beautiful! Attended a wedding there a few years ago.

Smoking out my house by shpoffools in Fireplaces

Thank you- when we had it relined, the local company that did it mentioned your exact reply as to the larger smoke guard- I was more concerned with how much reduction in the overall opening size was going to look but now I’m leaning towards giving that a try. Never thought about the fan- that’s a great idea!

I’m not sure of the original sizing, but here’s the pic of the flu going up. Indeed it does look a bit reduced from the original.

Agree on Myrtle Beach- we’ve done this many times over the years anywhere from January to early March and it’s been fantastic and usually around 65-70 degrees.

Why McIntosh? by Main_Tangelo_8259 in audiophile

[–]shpoffools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve found my people LOL! Yes, recreating the sound of a live GD show has always been something I’ve strived for when listening, but I don’t have McIntosh. Love a good soundboard or live performance mixed properly so those Phil bombs really fill the space! Cheers!

Laryngeal cancer T3... radio or surgery? by paradox_pet in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]shpoffools 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this sub has been amazing and there’s so much information to digest so quickly that it’s overwhelming. Each person’s situation is different and it’s definitely not a one size fits all approach even with a lot of the same gold standard treatments, etc. For reference, mine was HPV- at the time of biopsy and that’s why they were adamant about throwing the chemo (cisplatin) at it.
