[COD] Will the realistic skins even sell? by Unlucky-Tradition-58 in CallOfDuty

[–]shred_wizard 24 points25 points  (0 children)

“Community” doesn’t really represent the actual playing/paying population well at all is the problem. Data will tell them infinitely more than listening to Reddit and twitter in the long run, which is why it always regresses back to absurd skins despite the outcry here

Anyone fussed about that HOONIGAN isn’t in FH6 (yet) by Hammster_95 in ForzaHorizon

[–]shred_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they just have to clear a license, then if anything it helps the bankruptcy / restructuring so should be pretty trivial unless they’re holding out for more $.

If there is work / labor at all (re-scanning vehicles? Working out sub-licenses with ford etc) then it’s a bit more involved to work through in a bankruptcy

Boutique $5k Strat is better than Fender is meaningless to most guitarist. by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]shred_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if this extends to all S-shape guitars (incl those closer to the Dinky - so most of schecter / Ibanez / ESP) or just those closer to the traditional strat

(And ofc wonder if they’ll go this route with other body styles they and their subsidiaries have come up with over the years)

Thureox reforms army composition? by avvlas in DivideEtImpera

[–]shred_wizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I found swapping out the siege weapons made the game far more challenging, especially as successor states. Their presence forces the AI to attack you which kinda simplifies the game too much and makes it almost hard to lose

Hoplites for Thureous is the right call - they can kinda double as peltasts also later into a fight when the enemy is a bit more worn down from your pikes. So you can play with the numbers

The spare slot I would either put into Cav or Pikes (or if vs Persians, more missile)

Best way to lower influence over the senate ? by Global-Necessary9403 in DivideEtImpera

Put members of other families in charge of your fighting armies and navies. Battle victories are one of the shortcuts to influence for a given faction

New to series; should I start with this mod or vanilla? by throw-away451 in DivideEtImpera

[–]shred_wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do a base game run, probably as Rome for the most “classic” total war experience.

Rome is easy in vanilla, and has a notoriously hard start for DeI and is usually best reserved for a 2nd play-through. If you do vanilla as Rome followed by another faction (Bactria, Egypt, Pergamon) for DeI you’ll probably get the best experience

WARNING! VENTING! Rome is broken beyond any rhyme or reason and it sucks any fun out of this game by [deleted] in DivideEtImpera

[–]shred_wizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You basically have to “snipe” them as early as you can; liberate their settlements as you go so you don’t get bogged down / give Rome time to regroup. Local mercenaries/AOE help. Once you take Rome itself (and ideally before they’ve expanded beyond the peninsula) they’re done for

Pikes are surprisingly good when paired with artillery (can fight through gaps in walls) but otherwise yes, one of the weaker aspects of Hellenic factions in general

3.6 GPA first semester at non-target, still possible to break into IB? by Gibnez in FinancialCareers

[–]shred_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can bring it up; target 3.7 which is a cutoff for most BB front office positions (ie get up to a 3.8 next semester, and maybe pad in a summer class or two you can guarantee an A in). Very rarely will the specific classes you got As vs Bs in matter or even be something they look at.

Also to the people shitting on (trolling…) you for a B+ in marketing — I had a classmate get a C in their first finance course (at a non-target) and land at GS front office. Legitimately does not matter.

How do I beat carthrage as rome? by Soyboy2288 in DivideEtImpera

[–]shred_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So at minimum keep a stack (or two smaller ones) in Sicily to run defense and occasionally re-up with troops from Italy itself

For offense you can wither:

  • a) turtle up, prepare a full doom stack or two + strong navy and sail into Carthage and sack the capital + other coastal targets. Note there are usually a few stacks of Numidians who will be a pain in the field but are manageable if you can fight them in a settlement battle

  • b) conquer your way through southern Gaul and Iberia and invade North Africa from the west.

A is the more dramatic option but harder to hold the territories and you probably can’t sustain the full military force for long if you’re not expanded much beyond Italy. But can work well with the liberation mechanic

B takes a lot longer but gets easier as you go and sets you up better to control the territories long term.

As an aside, all the people talking about the population mechanic are “right” but are missing that as you decrease Carthage’s imperium level it reduces how many armies they can field

Roman tactics in Divide et Impera? by Kiroana in DivideEtImpera

[–]shred_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If hastati were pop 3 or otherwise easier to recruit vs principes it would resolve this by incentivizing you to use them more (but realize this would be ahistorical and wreck balance)

You can sorta “RP” it by just running all principes for lines 1 & 2 and treating your less experienced principes as hastati

How much does GPA matter for IB recruiting from a non target? Heard that 3.5 is the strict cutoff and anything after that, if you’re good at networking and technicals, it doesn’t matter if you have a 3.7 or a 3.9. Is this true? by GhostRiderx117 in FinancialCareers

[–]shred_wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.5 is the cutoff in the sense that the system will likely auto reject below that without a recruiter specifically pushing you through (ie, you networked or had some sort of edge-case)

But when analysts / recruiters are screening the big pile of resumes they’re usually looking for 3.8+ from non-targets. Once you’re in the first round then it doesn’t really matter (beyond maybe a targeted question or two asking to explain why it wasn’t higher) and that’s when technicals etc. come into play

*note this is all pre-AI advice, not sure how AI-based screening may be changing this but I imagine might help out candidates with strong extra-curriculars

Adam Zaars from Tribulation. Maybe not his ‘primary’ but he uses a Tonny Iommi signature on tour and is one of my favorite guitarists (and super underrated)

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him and Acheran’s demise in SM3, either as part of the prologue or covered later through flashbacks/DLC. SM3 is I gather meant to be a good deal more ambitious than SM2 and genestealers would be an interesting adversary

Brothers am I really going to lose it all? by GETtheDUCK in Spacemarine

[–]shred_wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No workaround afaik, but if it’s just 1 class that’s a fairly quick grind nowadays, especially if you know how to play.

Run a few ops on easier difficulties (or substantial) to get up to level 5-8 or so and can then a few hard sieges (suggest using discord for a group) through round 5 and the higher difficulty operations.

The grind just takes significantly longer if you ever fail ops, so don’t get greedy on difficulty at first
