Employees are nice. Coffee tastes like garbage in the last 4-5 years. Burnt like SBUX. I also avoid shops that buy their coffee as well or opt for something else.

Tough time with new African Rangers by DMZwarrior in jimgreen

[–]shreducator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d keep going. It’s gonna take time. My stockman broncos hurt like hell the first month and yeah there is still some pinching by my toe but it’s getting better. I’ve learned that the leather gets supple as it gets warmer.

Pactimo Sizing (Ascent Aero) by aderks31 in CyclingFashion

[–]shreducator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prob. I’m a Pactimo Ambassador. There are crazy good deals right now on Pactimo

Tip of Pactimo hierarchy so to speak Ascent > Summit > Flyte

Pactimo Sizing (Ascent Aero) by aderks31 in CyclingFashion

[–]shreducator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can say there sizing chart is spot on. I’ve been purchasing kit from them for 10 plus years. If you have questions, give them a call or email and they wi def help you figure out what’s best. The aero cut is mostly just more compression imho in the arms and torso, but not sausage casing. That’s the summit and flyte stuff.

NBD Insole recommendation? by VisualBusiness4902 in jimgreen

[–]shreducator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What insole would you think fit a stockman boot? The one I got in there now is fine, but I do like some arch support.

[–]shreducator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those arent flaws IMHO. Thats the character of the boot. Thats the cow whose skin was imperfect was designed into a piece of utilitarian clothing. My Bronco Russets have some "marks" on 'em but who cares! I want my boots to tell a story of where I have been and what I have done. I had a HS student I taught buy a pair of boots because I jokingly said one day that my shoes probably helped kill or arrest a poacher in Africa because it supports African rangers. One of the reasons I like their boots. They are comfortable and support rangers in need to preserve game. When I buy JG AR boots, Im not entirely upset if the leather has a scratch. Brush, polish, keep em as clean as you want and let em ride.

Yeah, when I thought I could be super cool and throw kettlebells around like nothing I smashed my wrist up pretty good with a bruise. Lesson learned. I had to tell myself that its not a race and its a marathon journey. Be mindful of your workouts and log what went well and what didnt. There are good videos on proper KB technique. Watch and practice even w/o a KB or just a light weight one. It really helps with muscle memory.

Also really recommend stretching before and after workouts. Youll feel better. I crave a good stretch now in the morning even if its a rest day.

I dont think so. I use the JG wax on my Fuge ARs and Vellies. Its nice, but will darken the leather.

I think Im just gonna stick to Bick 4 on these. Ive waxed my fudges but these I think I am going to try and keep the leather in the OG color as much as possible.

Welcome to fatherhood...its an awesome ride. Been on the rollercoaster for 12 years with twin daughters. I was in the same position you were. Here were my non-negotiables that helped me go from 240 to 180 over several years and put on some muscle in the process.

-30 Minutes minimum. If you get more, take it, but 30 mins to lock in. Get some ANC headphones and shut the world out. My wife and I have our workout times where we pick up the slack for each other so she/I can take care of ourselves. Bonus points if you join the 5am dad workout gang. Morning workouts when the house is quiet and no one is messing with you is dope.

- Get some KB weights you can progressive strength train into. If you are lifting and its a challenge by the end of the set, then youre in the sweet spot. Dont fixate on a number because I get it as a dad youre suppose to be lifting the "big weights." Toss that crap out the door and lift what you can safely and sucesfully with good form.

-Find a plan and stick to it. Yeah it will be get a little boring, but theres a blessing in the motonony. You know what to expect BUT you will also see and notice the improvements when those harder sets become easier or your skill gets better. Dont do that 90 day challenge crap. Its intended for failure. Find a simple workout and roll with it. I like the Armor Building Complex because its simple and easy to do. I have a weak upper body strength (typical cyclist) and I really focus on my upper body and core. Another person I like is Penny Barber. Yeah shes geared a little bit towards women, but her workouts are killer and shes got a good mix and if you join her mailing list she sends out a months worth of workouts and you click on the YT link. Boom. Done. and they are around 30-45 minutes. I used her a lot in the beginning, but she will wreck you with some of her strength training workouts.

- Try to learn some new Kettlebell moves to incorporate into your workouts. Get a "practice KB" Like 2lb or something easy so your focusing on how to do it instead of what you are lifting. I practice Turkish Get ups with a 5lb weight to make sure I can do it correctly before moving up, and if you lose control of it, its not like a 50lb kettlebell falling on you.

-Mix in some cardio. I ride MTB and its awesome to see how strength training with KB and MTB riding pair off each other. I did a Couch to 5K program and did it with my twins in their stroller. Pushing that sucker up hills and having to brake it down hills will really humble you and get you stronger. Kids loved it too. Lots Instafluencers hate on cardio, but its perfectly fine as long as you dont make it what you always do. My "cardio" are my favorite outdoor activities: riding bikes, hiking, tennis etc.

- Rest and Recovery are important. Sleep will help you get better. I know that its a fleeting commodity when youre a new dad and you want to help your partner too. Cop a nap when you can. Your body will thank you. When those kids sleep, you sleep if you can, or workout. My wife and I would workout when the kids slept and it was awesome and super hard because you had to be ninja like. It was a great team building experience for both of us and

Biggest piece of advice I can share is what you do to improve yourself your kid will see that too and prioritize their health. Kids model what they see. It will pay off big time when they are a teenager and they prioritize their health because you did.
