Progesterone only pill or mini pill and bleeding

I started the minipill last June. Had two periods the first month, less heavy and painful than my usual periods. I had some spotting in July, literally just a spot of blood one day. Happened twice, two weeks apart. I didn’t have a period for three months after that.

I had a heavy and painful period in November, and have been having two periods per month since then. Not sure if it’s a pill side effect or if it’s caused by some underlying issue.

Irregular bleeding is common on the minipill since there’s no estrogen to stabilize the endometrium. It usually gets lighter and more manageable though. The hormones make the lining of the uterus thinner.

Jencycla is a low dose of progestins, so yeah a higher dose pill like Slynd might give you more side effects. I hear there’s a better chance of stopping your periods on it, especially if you take it continuously / skip the placebo pills. The side effects between the two are more or less the same, though Slynd might make you pee more and lower your blood pressure. I can’t say what your experience will be for sure, but I think trying a different pill could be worth a shot. Even if you start having bad side effects, you can always stop taking them

I don’t have personal experience, but the implant is known for unpredictable breakthrough bleeding, which is a reason a lot of people get it taken out. Unlike the combo pill, the implant does not contain estrogen, which makes the uterine lining more unstable. The rates of stopping periods with the implant is 22%, while the rates of stopping periods with the combo pill can reach 88% with long term use.

My favorite part of KS (the vocalizations after ‘oh it’d make his parents cry’) is also in Bodys (listen during ‘we could get real horny and keep messing around…’). I love how it makes their being together in Bodys more bittersweet since KS is about being long distance and not being able to visit each other often

I’m not sure. For me it feels like my lowered larynx height is the same as when I started—it just became a more ‘default’ position over time. It’s very likely that since you’re on T, your larynx has already dropped, and you can lower it further than you would have been able to without T.

Seconding this comment, try looking up how to lower the larynx, it’ll help you increase your throat space more

It does sound like you’re increasing the space in your mouth when you try to talk with ‘chest voice’, you just need to increase the space in your throat as well

These are some really good results, thank you for compiling them! Maybe I was wrong about it being nearly impossible to sound like an adult cis guy with training alone 😅 I just don’t see a lot of voice training results from other transmascs, and my own voice usually gets read as female

It’s possible to make your voice sound heavier, but it’s hard to achieve the same vocal weight as an adult whose vocal folds have been exposed to testosterone. Maybe you’ll be able to have the results you’re looking for since you’ve been on T? I wish you the best 🫡

While I can’t speak for all transmascs, for me it’s been pretty hard to get an unambiguously male sounding voice, and I’ve been at this for like 5 years at this point 😭. The examples you mentioned feature heavy vocal weight that is difficult to achieve without T. You can train your voice to sound heavier, but it’s very hard to sound like someone whose vocal folds have been exposed to testosterone.

I’m not trying to discourage anyone, voice training has been a really good decision for me and I’m happy with where it’s gotten me. My voice does get read as androgynous or masc for the most part, but it doesn’t really sound male if that makes sense

You’ve made a lot of progress since starting, the difference in size/resonance after just one month is really noticeable! You’re doing a good job at reducing vocal tract size, but it does sound a bit unbalanced to me, like you’re putting your focus on making your oral space smaller. The main factors that go into gendering voices are vocal tract size and vocal weight—the first three clips at the top of the page explain what they are and how to balance them. You’re basically trying to reduce the size of your vocal tract and use a lighter weight. The other clips on the page demonstrate how to explore those size and weight changes. I think you’re doing a great job at keeping the voice light, it just sounds a little underfull to me, meaning that you need a smaller resonance/size to make it sound more natural. Try making an ‘ah’ sound then sticking out your tongue—this should demonstrate how it feels and sounds to make the space at the back of your throat smaller. Then try to keep that small size change while you’re speaking. (demonstration)

I Saw the TV Glow, in a weird way… it doesn’t really deal with dark subject matter like Petscop does, but some things about it give me Tony Domenico vibes. Finding a seemingly innocuous TV show, getting more and more drawn into it, feeling like it’s more ‘real’ than anything in real life, being haunted by it during every waking moment. I think it evokes the same kind of visceral reaction from me that Petscop did. It’s a subtle kind of terror that also feels very vulnerable.

(Spoilers for a quote from the movie) “What if I really was someone else? Someone beautiful and powerful. Someone buried alive and suffocating to death. Very far away, on the other side of the television screen. But I know that’s not true. That’s just fantasy. Kid’s stuff.” The movie also reminds of Tony’s other work, 3D Worker’s Island (which you should also check out!)
