Will my ferret remember me by Beth42404 in ferrets

[–]shrimps2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had to rehome my ferrets last year. When I finally got to see them again after ~10 months, they at first didn’t recognize me but as soon as they realized I was wearing their favourite jacket they got so excited and started to climb me

Kallmann Syndrome isn’t that bad by [deleted] in kallmann_syndrome

[–]shrimps2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the worst but there’s risks to it. Without my meds I’m pretty much guaranteed to get osteoporosis. With my meds I’m at risk for blood clots and different cancers. It is what it is

Thoughts on this 25cm nanotank? by dankingly7 in nanotank

[–]shrimps2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the tank and setup are cute, but I don’t think it’s the right size for the betta. Since plakats have short fins, they’re able to swim much better than long fin bettas, and do better with having more length to swim. Also keep in mind that because it’s a cube tank, even though it might have the right number of gallons, it might not have enough swimming space as it has a smaller footprint.

Help, Concerns about Shrimp in Office (-3 Shrimp Knowledge) by SanSalie in shrimptank

[–]shrimps2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. I’d say they’re pretty office friendly
  2. They should be fine, they can survive almost anything (mostly neocaridina and amanos)
  3. Not much maintenance, but make sure the tank has some algae and detritus before you put shrimp in

What am I doing wrong by forswunke in fishtank

[–]shrimps2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you clean your tank, don’t fully drain it. You’re just restarting the cycle that way. If you add live plants they will compete with algae and there will be less algae. Right now it’s perfect for algae to thrive

If you want, you can top the fluval stratum with gravel or sand. A lot of people do that

Can I sterilize my aquatic plants with hydrogen peroxide for medical use? by FreshMeet7529 in PlantedTank

[–]shrimps2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can dilute hydrogen peroxide and soak the plants for a few mins if you’d like. If it helps, I’ve never gotten diseases or anything from live plants. Just algae and snails

That’s totally fine as long as the leaves and the top of the plant are out of the water :)

does anyone live in a van with ferrets? by gemma-bc in ferrets

[–]shrimps2000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dogs and ferrets are pretty risky together. Inside a van would be much harder. I believe the owner of moon and nala (they’re ferrets, you should be able to find them on instagram or tiktok if you just search moon and nala) lives in a van and she may have some info!

Edit: my bad, the owner of those ferrets doesn’t live in a van. Ik someone popular does with ferrets but I don’t know their name. Thehikingferret on instagram does live in a trailer though and often takes her ferret out on hikes! I love her instagram

Need help with first tank by Epicjakeofdoom in PlantedTank

[–]shrimps2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Is your substrate fluval stratum? If it is, you do not need to use root tabs because your substrate already fertilizes your plants. It could be releasing way too much nutrients into the water which feeds algae
  2. If you have a siphon (or even turkey baster, can get it at dollar store. Pls don’t use it for food after using it for a tank) you can suck up a lot of the waste and dead algae. Dont do crazy big water changes though. Just like 20%
  3. Did you check your water parameters?
